Stopped in for a semi late lunch on a Monday at around 2 pm. Maybe that's the normal lunch hour around here because there were a good amount of people still dining/coming in around that time. I randomly found this spot because I saw it on Google Maps and it was right by the hotel we were staying at. It had great reviews so we decided to come check it out. We sat at the rooftop, which is kind of enclosed but luckily it wasn't too cold anyway. It had a nice chill vibe. For drinks, I had the green wine. I wasn't really sure what that was but decided to try it. It's kind of like a white wine, which I don't even normally like. But this green wine was very good. It was light, crisp, and refreshing. Hubby had come kind of spicy chili cocktail, which was interesting because it had a kick to it. He enjoyed it. Their most popular sandwich seems to be the pernil with sheep's head cheese and I can see why. The 4 stars here are really just for this sandwich and the drinks. The pork is tender and the cheese is perfectly melty. It's also the perfect sized sandwich if you're not that hungry and don't want something massive, but want more than just a little snack. You definitely need to eat this fresh while you're there though. We got one to go on a separate day to bring back to the hotel and the meat was a little dried out, and the bread was soggy. The cheese was still good though. Hubby had the Guedes Francesinha (house bread, roasted pork, egg, mortadella, chorizo, fresh sausage, ham, gouda cheese, and special sauce). This was our first time trying a francesinha. Looking at photos online, we already knew it would be too heavy, and it was. I also don't like my sandwiches covered in sauce because I hate soggy bread. But still, we wanted to try one since we were just visiting Portugal. This came with a pretty big plate of fries. We almost ordered a side of aioli to go with the fries but our waiter suggested against it because the francesinha already comes with a bunch of sauce and it would be too heavy. Glad we listened to him. The fries were kind of soggy, matching the theme of the heavy sandwich. Overall, I would say stick to the simple dishes (like the roasted pork and sheep's cheese) and maybe a few tapas and drinks and you'll have a great experience.

It was our last day in Porto, a Sunday, and after walking around for hours, we decided to stop by Casa Guedes Traditional for a bite to eat. Though it’s more of a fast-food spot than a typical restaurant, we were blown away by the quality of the food and the friendly atmosphere. The place was packed, so we ended up sitting at the bar, which actually turned out to be a great spot. There aren’t many seats inside, with most of the seating outside, but we didn’t mind at all. We ordered the famous meat sandwich with fries, and after spotting some chips, we were delighted when they kindly brought us a portion on the house! I can’t even put into words how amazing the food was – the sandwich was out of this world! It was so good, in fact, that I almost forgot about my concerns about gaining weight before flying home. The experience at the bar was just as enjoyable as if we’d had a table, and the staff’s warmth and hospitality made it even better. If you’re in Porto, Casa Guedes is an absolute must! We even came back for dinner, we loved it so much. My highest recommendation for anyone visiting the city!

We went here with high expectations, having read reviews and seeing videos of others visiting this restaurant. Unfortunately for us, the reality was not quite the same. We ordered the pork sandwich with sheep cheese. It was alright, but nothing special. It also wasn't very hot when we got it. We also ordered fries with the sandwich, and decided to try the bacalhau with sheep cheese. We had to ask about the bacalhau a second time, as it didn't come out with the rest of the food. When we did get it after 15/20 minutes of waiting, it wasn't even cooked through- in fact, it was still near-frozen in the center. On top of this, it was 2.50€ for a SINGLE, golf ball sized portion. After letting the waiter know, we waited another 15 minutes for a new one, and it was just "meh". Not worth waiting 30 minutes for..that's for sure. For the portion size and price (5.90€) of the sandwich, we thought it wasn't worth it at all. Just do yourself a favor and go to Conga for a bifana. A better pork sandwich at literally half the price.

We recently had an amazing dining experience at Casa Guedes Tradicional in Porto. They serve delicious sandwiches called Pernil com Queijo De Ovelha and Pernil com Queijo De Ovelha e Cebola Caramelizada. These sandwiches are made with juicy pork and creamy sheep cheese. The one with caramelized onions is especially tasty. We sat on the bar and the restaurant interior has a great local vibe and a friendly atmosphere. The staffs are all very nice and seem to really enjoy what they do, which makes the whole experience even better. Adding piri piri to the sandwich makes it even more delicious. I recommend having these sandwiches with fried thinly sliced potatoes and a cold beer. I want to give a special shout-out to Paolo for his excellent service, and to the guy who was cutting the meat (I think his name was something like Cercique). Their enthusiasm to work and skills really made our visit to Casa Guedes wonderful.

This is our second time here. The first time, we had dinner and drinks on the rooftop and we were not impressed by the food. The rooftop has great views as a great place to have some drinks. This time, we had lunch and it was pretty good. The atmosphere is fun and alive and they always have music playing which is nice. The service was pretty good for as busy as they where. We did not have reservations and got rooftop seats with no problem around 1 or so on a Saturday afternoon. We had moelas and burrata to start, 2 cocktails, glass of wine, padrão peppers, a Casa Guedes salad and bread for 58.40€, which I think is pricey. I'm not sure we will be back.

Most famous sandwich shop (or even restaurant in general), really good pork sliders and also a good vegetarian sandwich options! Highly recommended by tourists and locals alike. No frills, delicious food. On the corner of the street. Service was ok but they don't speak much English. I loved the 14 Chef Guedes, my favorite thing I tried. Really tasty bread, tender pork, arugula, cheese, caramelized onions. The cabbage soup has chorizo in it though so that is not vegetarian but the soup of the day was vegetarian (forgot to take a pic of the soup of the day oops). They have a restroom on the -1 floor. It's ok, stairs walking down are steep though!
