Padrão Doce — Restaurant in Porto

I spent some time in Porto and my apartment was nearby so I bought( kind of )often from this place but must of the time there was a nice gentleman that served us. Basically I knew somehow the prices for the products, at least for the ones that I bought all the time. My last experience wasn’t so nice as it was a lady that served me and she tried to trick me and changed the prices for all products( few days before I was served by the same lady and the prices were the same as always), I mean cakes that the day before were 1.2 euros, in that day were 1.55 and she didn’t offered me a receipt. I was in a hurry so I didn’t stayed to ask more questions (I saw the prices on the little screen, for each product).The next day one of my friends she went there to buy again some sweets for her and the prices were again 1.2 euros as she was served by the gentleman. Padrão Doce is a great little neighborhood café in Porto. It has a quiet, local charm with friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere. It’s right near a school so you get that true community vibe, the kind of spot where locals drop in daily.

We ordered a croissant simples, a cappuccino, and a pingo, which is kind of like a cortado. The coffee was excellent and the croissant was fresh and buttery. The sandwiches also looked really good and we’ll definitely try those next time.

It's a clean local place. Good treats. There's no air conditioning inside so we were very hot. Outside is full of smokers. The staff didn't speak much English which led to less stellar service with a lack of enthusiasm on their part. A good place to grab something to go. Not so good if you can't take the heat or are not a smoker.
