The Mouco Hotel – Stay, Listen & Play is an avant-garde retreat that seamlessly marries functionality with aesthetic charm. This hotel boldly reimagines traditional accommodation, transforming it into an immersive experience that caters to the senses. The hotel's meticulously curated music playlists set the stage for a novel, enticing stay, ensuring every visit is unlike any other. My recent stay at the Mouco Hotel was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were met with tranquility and serenity, a soothing sanctuary amidst the vibrancy of Porto. This deep feeling was undoubtedly a testament to the hotel's commitment to minimalist design principles. Despite being slightly distanced from central Porto, access to the city's heart was never a hassle. An enjoyable stroll or a short, inexpensive taxi ride ensured the city's bustling pulse was always within reach. Staff members at the Mouco Hotel were consistently warm, attentive, and eager to assist, enhancing the overall experience. Complementing their service was a mouthwatering breakfast spread, which was as delightful as it was diverse. The hotel's unique concept, rooted in simplicity and attention to detail, creates an environment that strikes the perfect balance between bare and bountiful. Each piece of furniture, decor, and design element was purposefully chosen for its combination of beauty and practicality, fostering a simultaneously luxurious setting and stripped back. The calming ambiance extends into the guest rooms, which were as meticulously curated as the common areas. With their minimalist design and high-end amenities, the rooms embodied the idea of 'less is more.' My highlight was the floor-to-ceiling windows, which allowed abundant natural light to flood the room, a luxury often overlooked in traditional hotel settings. Ultimately, the Mouco Hotel delivers a unique accommodation experience that marries simplicity with luxury. It is an ideal choice for those seeking a refreshing retreat from the energy of Porto's lively streets or a serene weekend getaway. From its minimalist design concept to the soothing ambiance, Mouco Hotel is a haven of tranquility in the heart...

We had a great time staying for a week with our family (2 adults 2 kids) at Mouco Hotel.

The hotel has a unique atmosphere thanks to its minimalist and soothing architecture and its general concept. On each floor there are small niches and corners with armchairs that invite you to rest and let the music and architecture take effect on you.

There is a large garden area including a pool to relax in, and there is chill music playing over the outdoor speakers during the day. At the bar you can get a large selection of drinks as well as a small variety of tasty dishes such as burgers or wraps while in the restaurant you can get a changing menu. Breakfast also offered a wide selection of European, American as well as Portuguese options.

The highlight for us, however, was the hotel's large music library from which you can borrow any number of records and play them on the record player in your room (yes, there's record players in the rooms). Generally, music plays a prominent role in this hotel, as it also has a concert hall where bands perform regularly (on weekends).

The staff is very friendly and accommodating and helped us immediately with any question we had. In addition, the hotel is very child-friendly, which was shown, among other things, by the fairly shallow pool, which with only about 1m continuous water depth ensures that even smaller children can play in it without danger.

The hotel is located a bit outside the center, but is only 4 minutes away from the Heroismo metro station, so you can get to almost anywhere in the city within 20 minutes. However, it is also worth exploring the neighborhood of the hotel a bit, as there are also some great cafes and restaurants hidden there.

All in all, a great experience and a perfect place to rest after exploring the bustling streets of Porto...

We had a pretty bad expeince here at this hotel. It all started when we first arrived. Check in was fine for us because we got lucky. There is only one person working the desk. Felt quite bad for the guy who came 5 mins after us who had to wait 20mins while the only staff memeber at the front was showing me around the property. Then we got to our room. Looked great...until the a/c.... You are unable to change the ac settings in your room yourself. It runs on a centralized LG system which doesnt let you change anythign without going to the front desk. they try to change the ac as we left for dinner expecting to come back to a room that didnt feel like a concrete sauna with no windows u could open or fans....the ac still wasnt on and it was disgustingly hot. Go back down another front desk guy who took over the last shift tried helping us. He even mentioned this was a known issue in the building.... He tried and we went back to the room waited 20 mins sweating profusely while waitiing for it to turn on. It did not. Went back down and this guy was actually the best employee in my opinion. Super understanding & helpful. He heard us out and tried to get us another room with the ac working. He found one but was downgrade - no kitchenette, smaller bed at the top of a loft room- still hot bad a/c but got a fan. Said would get an email with partial refund, never got an email. Bar staff was also not very present. This isnt a 4 star hotel. Over priced, understaffed. Avoid it.

Pictures attatched are empty front desk and bar...and the horrible ac control that is locked out...

This hotel is nice on the outside, impressive minimistic design on the inside and has some neat features like the ability to borrow instruments and turntables with a decent sized music library. There's a useful kitchenette with coffee maker and dishes to use (note we never used these to validate whether it worked). However, the rooms are poorly maintained with bathrooms that are not functional, showers that flood due to poor drainage and the awkward neighbourhood with dogs barking and children screaming for *hours* on end (literally from early morning til evening). The TV didn't work, the light switches were confusing. The location is also not ideal. Not close to very much, in a 'gentrifying' neighbourhood and about a 30 minute walk to town where you either end up using the metro or taxing everywhere. EDIT: since I posted this review, things got worse. A random staff member with a master key just walked straight into our door without even knocking! Their excuse was... "oh sorry, in the system it said this room was not occupied" yet 20 minutes before that, we had asked for a key to be reprogrammed to the room by the same gentleman.
