Moinho Da Roca — Hotel in Sintra

Our family of 13 had a wonderful stay in this iconic accommodation, completely self contained, isolated and peaceful. We had blue skies with daily swims and the temperatures here in Colares (25+C in August) are thankfully a little lower than Lisbon. We loved the comfortable beds, excellent hot water showers, decent kitchen and pool facing lounge with sliding doors. The rooms were clean and well presented. There is a dishwasher and washing machine, regularly used over the week. We had text and phone call communication with Regina, the manager, about keys etc but would have welcomed a face to face meeting on arrival to explain everything. On the downside, we also had a visit from a couple who were double booked into our property with another travel agency. This is an issue for the management to address - reviews show this has happened before.

We hired a car (from Guerin in Cascais) but were impressed with the local bus service - so used it frequently. Two buses an hour run to Cascais and Sintra and Caba da Roca (Number 403 with close-by bus stops) and we recommend visiting each of these places as great days out. We also had an excellent day out in Lisbon, taking the train from Cascais. The nearest supermarket (Spar) is 15 minutes away by car on the Cascais road with a good variety of produce including fruit, breakfast rolls, water and wines. We also used the close by (walk to) restaurant (Don Quixote) great for drinks and evening meals. The place is popular and can get busy. They also do takeaway orders! All in all this was a delightful stay in a delightful property and can thoroughly recommend it. Without doubt one of the favorite spots I stayed during my time in Lisbon! Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by a cozy and super clean room. Regina and Hugo were extremely friendly, the breakfast is so tasty with eggs, fruits, juices, milk and coffee, local bread (appreciate this!). During the day we had the opportunity to dip in the pool after the breakfast. We had two great evenings here, which obviously also added up to the experience. There is an amazing living room with a stunning view over Guincho beach and the ocean. ||During the day we did a village hiking to Cabo da Roca which was great and on the second day we spent the day on the pool. Um pequeno segredo às portas de Lisboa. O Moinho da Roca é um alojamento turístico que se encontra a pouco mais de trinta minutos de Lisboa, na Azóia, em Sintra. O seu contexto rural é simples e promete agradar a gregos e troianos. Antes de falar de todas as mordomias e condições incríveis do alojamento, gostava de destacar um dos pontos que me parece ser o mais importante: as pessoas que criaram este contexto. A Regina, o Hugo e a Mãe/Avó da Regina/Hugo são extraordinários, super simpáticos e prestáveis, o que tornam esta estadia ainda mais mágica do que o esperado. Para quem gosta de animais, vêm acompanhados da elegante Joaninha, uma pequena cadelinha sempre pronta para a brincadeira.

Passando para o alojamento, o maior destaque vai para o moinho que está em claro destaque quando entramos no aldeamento. À sua volta, múltiplos quartos, todos resguardados e com uma clara garantia de sossego e privacidade entre eles. O nosso, com o nome Grande alusivo à praia de Sintra, estava muito próximo da área comum, o que possibilitava ter a internet do alojamento durante toda a nossa estadia no quarto onde ficámos. O quarto era muito simples, com um toque muito tropical, que incluía uma cama bastante acolhedora e uma casa de banho muito ampla com chuveiro. Destacamos a luz que se encontra debaixo da cama, que fazia uma luz ambiente muito bonita e intimista.

Passando para a área comum, somos brindados com duas mesas para comer, uma sala de estar com televisão, sofás e wifi e ainda uma cozinha totalmente equipada. A piscina está muito bem localizada e abrigada, com vista privilegiada para a praia do Guincho, em Cascais. O pequeno almoço todos os dias era variado e muito saboroso - saímos sempre de barriga cheia e feliz.

A pouco mais de 100 metros temos o Bar do Moinho, muito bonito para se estar e ver o sunset. Para passear, estamos a cerca de 20 minutos quer de Sintra, quer de Cascais. Passeámos pela Peninha, fomos jantar a Cascais e, na segunda noite, ao SoulDough, na Praia das Maçãs.
