On the 31st of December 2024, we had the pleasure of having lunch at Moinho Dom Quixote, suggested to us by a local friend at the very last minute. Even though we were staying in Lisbon on the final day of our trip, we rented a car to visit places outside the city, and this restaurant turned out to be one of the highlights of our journey. This place is a true hidden gem, and we are so happy to have spent our time here. The views are absolutely stunning, overlooking the ocean. I only wish we had more time to enjoy the sunset, as it must be incredible from this spot. The food was extremely tasty, with generous portions that really satisfied our appetites. The flavors were rich and fresh, making each dish a treat. The staff were incredibly friendly and kind, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. The setting itself was wonderfully relaxing, with a large garden filled with beautiful plants that created a peaceful environment. Overall, we had a lovely end-of-year lunch, and if I ever visit Lisbon again, I would definitely rent a car to return here. It’s absolutely worth it! I highly recommend Moinho Dom Quixote to anyone looking for a great meal in a tranquil setting with stunning views.

The location is nice but the service is slow and the staff extremely unfriendly and unhelpful - especially the girl working front of house. I had some friends visiting from abroad and I was excited to share this place with them. I booked ahead to get a good table but when I arrived the table was not big enough to fit 9 people and it was extremely uncomfortable. We asked to try to get another table but the staff didn't seem to want to help us...or to put it another way, they didn't care. We arrived at 1230 but despite asking many times, the waiters only came to take our order at 1315 - by then we were told we were too late to order off the brunch menu. Brunch ends at 1300 - it doesn't matter that it wasn't our fault the waiters didn't come. The food is average at best - we left behind most of it since nobody enjoyed it very much. This was a disappointing experience and embarrassing for me personally as I had suggested and booked to eat here. They are very busy and it seems they really don't care about quality of service or food because they have plenty of other customers. If you really want to come here, I suggest you eat before you arrive, just take a drink and enjoy the views.

TLDR: it's an attraction. The atmosphere and views remain wonderful, but the food has become less interesting, 6/10, despite once being the reason to visit. Longer story, Moinho Dom Quixote used to be a lesser known restaurant, a delight for the eyes and the palette. It had an interesting diverse set of dishes, that catered to lunch and dinner. It was a local treat, with the views over Guincho Beach, the ocean, and a glimmer of Cascais. That view remains the same, and the gardens are still as pleasant to be in. However, with new management, the menu has been... refined, to a smaller set of options catered more towards lunch and breakfast. It also became a lot busier, which has been really good for the atmosphere. The smaller menu features less diverse options, with the Pratos da Casa being the focus dinner options. The bitoque was decent, nothing special, and dipping bread in the sauce was honestly better than the meat. The halloumi was a saving grace. Ps. I asked for a medium doneness, and the bitoque arrived cut in 3 small pieces, each somehow weirdly cooked with an off center medium? Slightly over cooked.

Undoubtedly, everyone comes to this place for the beautiful terrace garden with a wonderful view of the ocean, but the food here does not disappoint either. The food is delicious, and the dishes are served quite quickly. The prices are quite reasonable, especially considering the view. However, we have been there several times, and on one occasion, the portion of sausages was somehow half the usual size. (It was literally cut in half.) I like the meat tacos here The coffee here is like all typical Portuguese coffee 😅... not for me Be aware that there might be a queue at the entrance on weekends because you can't reserve a table. 😕The chairs here are not very comfortable It's windy on the terrace, so every time we went, it wasn't open. We only had coffee there once, as they said they don't serve food outside. I'm not sure if it ever opens, but you can walk around, and that's nice :)
