3 Gomes — Restaurant in Sintra

I was visiting cabo da roca one evening in march when (thanks to google maps being 10min off to the bus schedule) I missed the last bus literally from the end of the world. I was stuck, alone, at night. Luckily czech campers where there and drove me to the nearest bus stop. So I had only a short time until the next bus but I didn't know where and when it's coming. I walked 40km on that day and I was very hungry. So asked at the local restaurants and they helped me out. I ordered something quick to eat at 3 gomes as a take away. They were really fast and explained to me where the bus is. I had enough time to eat my meal at the bus stop. I was amazed by the way the meal was cooked well in the short time and how well decorated the cutlery and napkin were, bound in a ribbon. I still have kept the ribbon to this day and like to thank the staff for their help in a very difficult situation. I reached Lisbon that night...

We found this restaurant by luck as the intended restaurant next door would not take us without a reservation even though it was filled with 3 people. Very strange! Regardless, 3 Gomes had a table for us and everything was perfect! The service was impeccable, the food was a delight and the ambience was very comfortable. Ordered a bottle of the Verde wine which was delicious and very fairly priced. The mushroom starter along with the clams in garlic with wine was fabulous. The main was a whole white fish which was grilled and cooked perfectly which accompanied boiled potatoes. We finished the meal with a biscoff pie of sort and was good enough to come back for just that! Great staff and even had the time during their hectic table service to practice some much needed Portuguese...

I was really excited to try it here and it looked really nice when we went inside. We ordered the clams to start and when they arrived they were far too salty, I usually love this dish, but it was inedible. We told the waiter it was far too salty and we couldn't eat it. When the mains came the vegetables were also over salted, we told the waiter and they told us they had some new staff in the kitchen. However when the bill came, they did not remove the two items we couldn't eat due to the salt. It was far too expensive considering two of the dishes were inedible. I think it would've been nice to see at least some form of customer service, but they didn't even make an effort. Also the side of chips that came with the steak was so so small, I think there were...
