The hotel is generally good, but cleanliness and professionalism were disappointing. We encountered insects in the room and had to be moved. Housekeeping is not done unless requested, meaning you could stay two days without cleaning. When I asked why, the answer was ‘you didn’t request it,’ which is unacceptable for a Holiday Inn.
On 19/08/2025 at 4 PM, my friend raised the insect issue with the manager at checkout, and the response was simply ‘this is not true.’ Even worse, after she reported the issue to IHG, the front desk called our room at 2:00 AM to ask if we had filed a complaint. This kind of behavior is highly unprofessional and disturbing.
Additionally, regarding laundry service, the clothes are not washed in-house but at the laundry shop across the street. The price difference is shocking: the local laundry charged me 36 RON (around €7) for a shirt and trousers, while the hotel charged me €50 for the same service. This happens because the price list in the room is misleading; it shows amounts that look like RON, but in tiny fine print at the bottom (barely visible), it states that prices are in euros. This is neither transparent nor professional.
Moreover, most of the staff seemed poorly trained. When you request something, instead of handling it professionally, they sometimes laugh for no reason, giving the impression that they are temporary or daily-hire staff without proper training.
As loyal IHG members, this experience was very disappointing and does not reflect the standards expected from the Holiday Inn brand.
Response to the hotel’s comment: I only shared my honest experience as a paying guest. Instead of addressing the issues professionally, the hotel management chose to dismiss and insult me publicly. This response itself proves the lack of professionalism I experienced. Guests deserve respect, not...
Read moreI just spent 3 weeks in a Holiday Inn in Bucharest, Romania. I have been a Diamond member for 30 years and stayed in literally thousands of IHG properties, and I can honestly this was one of the best experience's I ever had!! Where do I start, the hotel is modern, super clean, amazingly maintained, a fantastic warm staff and a great breakfast buffet. The property from the lobby to the restaurant, elevators, hallways and of course the room itself was meticulously cared for. Absolute spotless. My room was very modern with a great bathroom, plenty of towels. a great flat channel with awesome cable choices. The bed was super comfortable with superior linens. Everything was perfect...not a single issue!! The manager, Alina, was unbelievably kind, accommodating and professional. IHG and the customers are lucky to have her on staff. Every single person working in the hotel, without exception, was warm and treated my wife and I like we were family. The breakfast buffet was awesome. Just about anything you can think of was in the buffet. Everything was fresh and beautifully arranged. I have had breakfast at over 1,000 Holiday Inn's in 20 countries and this buffet was better than most. The location is on an exclusive boulevard that is lined with great restaurant after great restaurant. Another words, great location. In addition, there are 2 restaurants on property and they both were great. Super fresh food with a great selection. It is rare I am so impressed to write such a long review. After 30 years of staying in IHG properties I was amazed that I could still be impressed but I was so, so happy with this entire experience. If you are staying in Bucharest I strongly, strongly suggest you stay in this hotel!!!! It does not matter if you are a IHG member or not...you will have a fantastic, relaxing and special experience....
Read moreWe stayed for one night in this hotel. The initial interaction with the hotel was amazing, the lady I was in touch with was very pleasant and helpful.
We also got an upgrade which was nice.
However, when we arrived we had some issues with checking in, took us several minutes to confirm with staff member that we had a reservation (had to show emails, booking confirmation and explain).
When I checked in advance with the hotel and also restaurant, we were told that my dog’s size was welcomed at the hotel and restaurant (I called before going down again to check), the staff at the restaurant when we arrived were very rude, I was told my dog was dirty and it’s not good for food safety to have her there (I wash her every two weeks and she is a medium size very calm). It was shocking to hear because we had never had such incident before. The food was not good at the restaurant but we were demanded to tip higher. The food was also handled badly by the lady, she was braiding her hair in front of us, and didn’t wash her hands before touching silverware and food. There was cross contamination with food as well.
Although the room upgrade was very nice, we had significant issues with the room.
The ventilation system above the bed was broken or leaking, so made massive noises during our stay, and we got soaked in water whilst asleep. (Some of our belongings also did that was on the corner table).
Overall, it was a horrible stay and we wish we never went to this hotel. It is very sad because I try to only use IHG as I’m a platinum and I normally appreciate the service quality and detail, but here, it was worse than a budget 2 star hotel. I don’t like leaving public reviews when the experience is negative but this was far beyond acceptable....
