Having read previous reviews it seems they are either very critical or full of praise.I wanted to set the record straight on the Hefaistos hotel to give a true and independant review looking at not only the goodbut the bad points. Firstly like most hotels in Romania and especially Mamaia the Hefaistos is not a four star hotel, it is too new and with spacious rooms to be a two star so i am happy to award it three stars. I have now stayed in 5 different hotels in Mamaia and all different qualities and prices. When I first arrived there was no spaces available in the adjacent car par as it had been blocked by hotel cars. Yes the main entrance is adjacent to a larger car park but i have stayed at hotels where the entrance has been adjacent to a cesspit so this is really not a problem and none of the rooms overlook the car park. Upon checking in there was confusion with my booking, I had two separate bookings, one for two nights which had been modified to one night and another non cancellation booking of five nights. After a worried look from the receptionist she told me I had no booking for the first night so I produced the email the hotel sent me to prove the booking had been amended and the receptionist called the duty manager for assistance. After looking through all available rooms he finally came up with a free one for the six nights in totsl and we all sighed a big relief. So to the room and the best way to describe it would be minimalist ikea design with large glass windows without a balcony and two single beds pushed together to form a double (I had been told by email that no double beds were available). The room was certainly adequate for the price paid (the equivalent of less than 30 pounds per nightt) there was a good sized fridge in the wardrobe and the wardrobes were also large and spacious. The bathroom was also clean modern and spacious. Unfortunately thats were the good points end but the bad points are not a catasstrophe as one reviewer has implied. Ok so there is no shelves in the toilet....big deal he failed to mention there is adequate space on either side of the sink, oh and no place to hold the toothbrush lol give me a break! My worst complaint during the stay was not the load music at night (take ear plugs or if you can't beat them join them!) or the barely adequate air conditioning system (drink cold water) but a loud crash in my room during the night! No it wasn't part og my drum and bass dream but the light cover had fallen to the ground with a loud smashing sound, ok so the rest of the night i was only half sleeping expecting something else to crumble before my eyes! My only other gripe was that they could not supply me with a kettle in the room for the evenings when a returned in a drunken stupor to my barely air conditioned room (just joking). So would I stay there again probably yes unless I win the lottery and then it would be Iaki hotel...
Read moreI've just spent 2 nights in the hotel and all I can honestly say I'm sure the previous reviews are written by the hotel.||There are so many things wrong with this hotel, I don't know where to start from:||-the entrance in thru a parking lot||-the rooms look like a 2 star hotel at most||-the cleaning is terrible: the "disinfected" sign was on the toilet bowl and there was urine in it when we arrived; they only gave us 1 towel each size and we were 3 people in the room||-the bathroom door wouldn't close(at all), the curtain was falling apart, the AC wasn't coping||-there's no towel rack in the bathroom, nor any toothbrush holder or any shelf to put your things on, we kept them on the sink and obviously they got wet each time we washed out hands||-I called 3 days before check in to ask for an extra bed for our son and, on the arrival day, they told us they didn't know about that and they didn't have any extra beds available; we also told them we would have late arrival and they didn't know about that either||-the cleaning lady left our room door open with the key in it and left without changing all the towels; she didn't clean or change the glasses in the room, the minibar wasn't refilled||||On top of all this, the hotel is in the middle of the clubbing area with musing screaming loud until 3 AM(on both sides of the hotel). If you shut the windows(which we did), the AC is extremely loud and isn't coping even kept on minimum temperature so I got too hot.||||The front desk ladies were very nice(although inexperienced) and the rate was very cheap so I guess you get what...
Read moreAfter a long journey we arrived at the hotel - there is no parking outside the hotel we were asked to pay for the parking outside the hotel - this was suppose to be included in our trip however the hotel was adamant that it was mistake of the local council for terminating the parking and charging for it - I confronted them with saying that you should have emailed your guest or let them know.||||I was handed over a bill of city tax where as my booking clearly pointed taxes were included - it was clearly a mistake at the hotel part which they did not admit and had no one to blame but Expedia.||||Overall staff was good but had no decision making power - the cleaning was excellent - hotel needs some maintenance the lock of our door was broken ( we were not able to lock it at all from inside) - there is no shower curtain the water sprays outside the tub making it wet on the floor.||||Hotel is located very close to the beach 2 mins walk away.||||As this is three star hotel I expect it to offer some tea or coffee within the room but there was none.||||Overall it is okay - Do not have high expectations when...
