Booked this place through Booking.com and was notified shortly before the trip that the ownership had changed, they were no longer going to participate with Booking.com, but that they'd agreed to honor our reservations at a slightly higher rate. We agreed. When we got there, an extremely unhelpful and indifferent front desk agent (and apparently one of the new owners) simply told us he had no reservation at all for us and no rooms available (in Russian -- he spoke no English nor any other language anyone in my group of three travelers spoke). As it was already quite late at night, and the city seemed inordinately full, with our only other options costing 5-10 times as much, we were needless to say quite distressed. Appeals to the owner and expensive cell phone calls to Booking.com (he would not let us use his phone, even for a collect call) to resolve the situation were useless. Booking.com only offered other, far more costly options. We decided to remain camped out in his lobby and await better news from Booking.com, since the only other choice was a night on the street. Eventually, he grew disgusted with our presence and brusquely showed us to a room he said was not guest-ready, and which he described as a "student" room, meaning, basically, hostel-style accommodations, bathroom outside the room, bunk beds, and all of us in together though we'd booked separate rooms. Reluctantly, we agreed. On the second night, a water heater burst adjacent to the room and flooded it, along with any of our belongings we'd left on the floor. We had to stay up until 3 in the morning while he and his (drunken) partner mopped it up. Breakfast was horrendous. All in all, a hideously awful stay. About the only positive is that its location close to Moscow Station was relatively convenient, and the price in the end was right. But avoid this place like the...
