This hotel was ideally located near to the Main Street, Nevsky Prospekt. However the street of the hotel might not be ideal for families as the street is full of bars and strip clubs, although I felt safe. ||The hotel was mostly clean, staff was sometimes attentive although it took some time to get a half smile. The room was cleaned well daily but towels were dirty and needed to be replaced upon request. The breakfast was simple yet adequate. Nice gentleman made fried egg or pancake upon request. ||Check in was a hassle like many in Russia due to the regulations. This hotel charged a nominal fee for the government registration process which is more for the hotel not necessarily the traveler. After paying 30 Euro in advance for the invitation letter and voucher needed for visa this seemed excessive. The reception threatened if we did not pay the additional registration fee we might risk a problem in departing Russia. This was not the case, the officials stated it is necessary for the hotel not so much the guest and we did not need to show the registration paper upon departure. ||Recommended without hesitation for the basic...
Read moreSituated just off Nevski Prospekt this hotel is a modern conversion of what was stables. The old ceiling features have been kept with the addition of contemporary design. A very warm welcome by reception. ( especially Igor, who’s English and personality is excellent) Excellent breakfast included on our stay with some local Russian delicacies.|The outside is currently being renovated so you could walk past. Don’t be put off by this as there was no noise from the work. Directly opposite is the Dept store of Gostiny Dvor, so plenty of shopping to be done. You can even walk to the Winter Palace from the location but the green and blue metro lines are at the end of the road. |One suggestion, there is a lot of noise from traffic so pack some silicone ear plugs., they work a dream!|And don’t miss the Fabergé museum just...
Read moreWe stayed here in October and loved it. Modern clean fairly small hotel. Really friendly staff with good command of English. Large comfortable room with all of the facilities we'd want except for a safe. Good wi-fi connections. Smallish selection at breakfast but what was laid on was enough for us and very tasty. Very close to the main historic attractions and the Metro - it's a superb location for seeing the city. There's also a good selection of bars, cafes and restaurants nearby. Can be a little noisy at night but nothing that kept us awake. Tip - rather than catch a taxi, if you get the Metro bus from the airport to Moskovskaya Metro station, then catch the Metro direct to Nevsky Prospekt you'll save yourself a lot of money. On the other hand, you do get to see some interesting sights on the...
