Catherine Art Hotel — Hotel in Palace District

Bad and good reviews are both correct. It depends on what you value in a room or what room you get (what building/floor). I think it is okay for a few nights, but there are a lot of issues which should be addressed. I don't know if I would recommend it, but depending on what kind of room you get, the hotel can be quite nice. On one hand the location is amazing, the room itself was clean, spacious and comfortable, BUT on the other hand there is a lot of construction going on. Our room was in an other building, we had to walk past garbage containers placed in the middle of the street. The windows on the ground floor(which is almost basement) are so inconveniently high, you cannot open them without a ladder. The room smells quite bad after the renovation and the toilet smells as well, but I think it is a problem with the sewage system. Can be avoided if you keep the toilet sit closed. The cleaning stuff was still not done with cleaning at 6 in the evening and asked us if they can clean the room later! I have never experienced something like that in a hotel. I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights this month, I selected it because of its location (it is in the main road, walking distance to the main sights, even the metro). I was not expecting something great due to the price I paid, but I was surprised when I entered the hotel: it is spotlessly clean, the receptionist are wonderful and will move the world for you. I don’t speak Russian and we were always able to communicate in English, which I did not find common there. I traveled solo, so I had the room just for myself, it was a 2 storage room with plenty of space for 1 or 2 people, with view to the main road (Nevsky Prospect). It was too cold outside, but they kept my room warm enough to be comfortable inside. They can arrange taxis for you, to pick you up at the airport or to take you somewhere, compare to what you find on the streets their prices are great and the drivers are welcoming. I would definitely stay again here if I ever come back to St Petersburg, and obviously I will recommend it to...
