The hotel was luxury at its finest. We were served complimentary champagne upon our arrival. My family of four (traveling with a 3 year old and 11 month old) were in room no. 617. My parents were across the hall in room no. 618. Each room was elegantly and uniquely decorated. The rooms were spacious with beautiful bathrooms with glorious tubs. The doors to the room were solid stained wood and absolutely gorgeous. We had requested two cribs, and both cribs were waiting in our room for us. A delicious complimentary breakfast was included with our stay.
The location of the hotel was perfect. We walked all over. It was located just 350 feet from Nevsky Prospekt, 1,650 feet from Kazansky Cathedral, 0.2 miles from Mikhaylovsky, 0.4 miles from the Hermitage Museum, 0.4 miles from the Winter Palace, 0.6 miles from Saint Isaac's Cathedral, nearby restaurants and venues, and a 10 minute walk from the Savior on the Spilled Blood Church. The hotel was surrounded by entertainment venues, cafes, and restaurants.
We booked everything during our brief St. Petersburg stay through the Golden Triangle Hotel with the concierge, Lubov Georgieva. Everything was perfect. Lubov responded to my many inquiries (as I intend to ask lots of questions, especially being a mommy to two babies) timely and kindly. Lubov provided great detail and time in arranging perfect tours and transfers for us. We couldn't have more pleased with the tours provided, the tour guides, and the ease in scheduling everything with Lubov.
The hotel arranged our transfers to and from the airport. The drivers were professional and timely.
We had reserved a 5 hour tour with our hotel to Pushkin with Ekaterininsky Palace, Amber Room, and Park. Our tour started at 14:00 (2:00 pm). It was the earliest available start time. The price of the tour included a personal guide, comfortable minivan, and entrance tickets to the Catherine Palace, Amber Room, and the Park. We were picked up and dropped off at the hotel.
Our guide, Liubov Bondarenko, was fabulous. She was extremely personable, informative, professional, and a joy to be around. She was sweet and caring with our babies. She knew her Russian history well. We loved listening to the wealth of knowledge she shared with us. She made the tours even more perfect. Our highlight of the tour was certainly the Amber Room. It was lavishly extravagant. It was a room with high walls covered entirely in amber mosaics. The room covered approximately 180 square feet and contained six tons of amber and other semi-precious stones. The amber panels were backed in gold leaf.
The following day, we reserved the 4 hour City Tour and Resurrection Cathedral through our hotel. he price of the tour included a personal guide, comfortable minivan, and entrance tickets to the Resurrection Cathedral. We were picked up and dropped off at the hotel. We had Liubov again. She was phenomenal. All six of us absolutely adored her. She was extremely knowledgeable and such a joy to be around. Saying farewell to her at the end was sad as we wanted to spend more time with her. We fell in love with St. Petersburg even more so because of Liubov.
If we have the pleasure of revisiting St. Petersburg, we will try to reconnect for more tours with Liubov and would definitely stay at the Golden...
Read moreWe were visiting Russia for the first time and didn’t really know much about it. I booked this hotel as it looked nice on the pictures, had good reviews and the location was highlighted as a great place to be. The budget wasn’t a factor when choosing this hotel as there are cheaper out there.||Our arrival after a night flight was very early and we actually arrived at the hotel at around 5am. (We had a private car collect us at the airport for a cost of around £15 for the 15 minute transfer – This is reviewed separately). When we arrived at the hotel, we walked straight in, there was a night porter and a receptionist on duty. We checked in and after paying around £24 for an early check in, we got the key to our room. This was room 502 on the 5th floor and the lift went straight to it.||The room was huge! Nice décor, two large windows (which opened) covered by beautiful drapes. The double bed was at least queen size due to it being twin beds zipped (you couldn’t tell!). Lovely cotton quilts each and feather pillows. There were robes and slippers in the wardrobe which I used throughout our stay. We had TV, lamps, telephone and anything else you wanted could be delivered from reception at any time.||The bathroom was huge with a bath and a double shower, lots of products, fresh towels and great water pressure.||There was a nice reception area and a dining room. We didn’t have breakfast so I can’t comment on the food.||The hotel is located just off Nevsky, which is the main street running through St Petersburg and a great location. There is an English and an Irish Bar next door!.||The area felt completely safe and we wandered down Nevsky and surrounding area until late at night. There is a 24 hour supermarket nearby as well as restaurants and other bars. (Best restaurant nearby is MarketPlace! We went twice.)||The main ‘Moscow’ Railway station is 4 stops on the metro or a 25 minute walk straight down Nevsky Ave. The nearest metro station is 5 minute walk and costs around 50p each. Very safe and very easy to use! The stations have some amazing architecture and worth a visit.||Overall, we loved the hotel, great location, good value for money. We would definitely...
Read moreThe hotel is ideally located in Nevsky Prospekt and is a 3-minute walk from the Palace Square and State Hermitage Museum. There are also a lot of restaurants, cafes, and shops around. The room where we stayed in is clean and heated, we had to open one window as it sometimes gets too warm (which is not really bad in winter time), bathroom is also adequately sized with shower, tub, heated floor, and plenty of hot water and enough amenities. We enjoyed a nice view from our 6th floor window. The staff are friendly and helpful; they very considerately added an extra folding bed for us (2 adults + 1 9y/o) but we asked them to remove it so we have more floor space to move around, and the bed is big enough for the 3 of us to sleep comfortably anyway. Breakfast can be better, although the choices are limited and the same daily, they are quite tasty. The lift is also very small - 3 people is cramped. Concierge is also non-existent. Don't forget to ask for your daily complimentary water, otherwise you won't get it. If your flight on the last day of your stay is at night time like it was for us, you are welcome to check out in the morning and leave your bags in the luggage room while you roam the city for a few more hours till' you are ready to leave for the airport. Internet is a pain, but you can just buy a sim card from the airport for 1,000 rubles (you will get one for free) with free unlimited internet on both for two weeks. Overall a pleasant stay and will look forward to...
