I booked this hotel appx 3 months in advance through bookings.com. The first month booking.com send me an email saying the hotel said the card is invalid update a new number, I as quite surprise because the card was a good card. I updated another they send and said successful. The end of 2nd month i got another email saying they checked the card and it's invalid .. update new card number..I was perturbed as to what was going on because both cards I have been using...so I update the first card I made the booking on and the same one they said is not valid too...email came back saying card was successful. On the day before arriving while in the airport I got another email saying card invalid update new or my booking will be cancelled in 21 hours.. wow.. now I was suspicious|Anyhow i got to the hotel before the 21 hours was up. I got in bit early so was not allowed to check in. On check in time.. the lady at the desk ..think her name is Lana or Nana.. but she was the white slim Russian woman....the other Iady i dealt with was more asian and very pleasant... so the check in lady said time to pay for my room so i have her my card.. she told me the machine is not working and the bank promised to fix in 4 days. I was staying for 8 days so i said i will wait or pay on check out , she said payment must be made up front, so i said to her I do not have over 300 euro to pay for the room as i was told in advance card is accepted and I put the hotel's money on the card, she is telling me to go to the ATM and withdraw it and pay cash. I said my card is not set up that way. Eventually we agreed I paid 100 dollars as down payment and she said tomorrow see see what happens. I found all the very strange and I got someone to call the hotel to find out on bopking if card is accepted they said the hotel said only cash.|I went to the front desk and told her this..she was most displeased. She said tomorrow we check the card. When I got to the hotel the card was never swiped as she said the machine was not working.|Anyhow next morning I went to front desk with the card she was very sour faced to see me. She was at the desk with male front desk staff and she swiped my card it went through.. .no problem ..stay paid in full...all this time she is grumbling in russian and very angry ..to the point i had to ask her if she is angry at me..she said no she is tired from work... in my mind I'm thinking she lied about the machine not working and just wanted cash only..||The room:|The room was clean this was the only good thing about the hotel.. location I think so so.. garbage bins lined the walk way to the hotel and very hard to find|The room was so hot. I got nose bleed for 4 morning. ..even with the window open at night the room was boiling hot...not from the barely warm heater that would not keep anyone warm on a cold night but because the window has no blackout drapes.. and the sun comes up around 5 am and full blast in the room for the entire day.. the brightness of the room mixed with the heat was past unbearable. Some mornings whilst dressing to get out I will have the room door open in the corridor to cool it down.. I'm from the caribbean and if in say the room was like a sauna trust me it was..one night I met a fan in the room. I guess they felt sorry for me but that did not help.you can get a heat stroke in there and no sleep after 5am. The room smelled like cigarettes always even though non smoking...all the towels and even your clothes too.|Besides the heat..the room was noisey.everything said in the corridor was heard in the room, it also seemed as though construction was taking place as workers came very early and left as late as midnight and 1 am ..so it's loud laughing and talking and hammering.|My entire stay here was horrible..couldn't wait to leave..and not to mention every time this lady saw me she watched me with an angry face, to thenpoint I locked my suitcases everytime I left the room so she would not put anything in them. And i am very serious about this.. I was literally nervous and unhappy the entire time.|I will never ever recommended or stay at this hotel...
Read moreA friend and I stayed at this hotel for a week during our first visit to Russia. The hotel is located in walking distance of the Red Square and is very close to the Arbatskaya metro station.||||The room was very comfortable. The room was not particularly big, but it was large enough. The beds were very comfortable as well. The only problem I had with the bathroom was that there was a large window in it with semi-transparent curtains. There was no nearby building on the other side, but my advice would be to replace the curtains with something opaque.||||Staff was very nice, helpful and even spoke English. They were always there when we needed help. Special thanks to Jamila (sorry for the poor transliteration), who was especially helpful and also spoke English really well. The hotel was pretty comfortable, but the friendly staff is why I'm booking this hotel again next time I'm in Russia.||||Breakfast was nice, but personally I did not really ilke the coffee.||||Rooms were clean and the cleaning lady was also nice. Towels were replaced regularly.||||To sum it up: great hotel, great staff, will definitely be...
Read moreGood location in the sense in that you can walk to most attractions, metro, restaurants and supermarkets. We were here for the World Cup and there was a good atmosphere all around.||||At the same time the location seems a little dodgy - however we were walking around at 3am without any problems so don't judge by the looks :) The hotel was a little tricky to find but the location on Google Maps is precise, so walk around the street if needed and you will need to go through a set of gates.||||Also, we thought the staff were quite nice despite other reviews said.||||Bad things:||Bathroom has very strong smell of cleaning products. We stayed on 2 different occasions and 2 different rooms - it was the same in both cases. Also, it may bother some people that...
