Urban by CityBlue, Kigali — Hotel in Kigali City

First of all, this hotel debited my card 2times. And it took AN ENTIRE MONTH TO GET THE OVER CHARGES REFUNDED.😡THEN I HAD TO KEEP INTERNATIONALLY CALLING TO GET ANY INFORMATION ON WHAT WAS CAUSING THE DELAY. I rated this facility as 1 and somehow it looks as if it showed a rating of 3 stars. Not even close. Upon arriving in country and calling Urban, they'd changed my location because the representative stated the original reservation location was under reconstruction. Next the room I was placed in (smelled like an outhouse) in which they called it the garden wing. I never like to complain and I'm really easy going, but the room they placed me in was not what I reserved. Nonetheless they changed my room by the second day and yet it still smelled like a mouthball outhouse. I also witnessed the cook speaking to the wait staff in a degrading way. Review||The Urban by City Blue is a very nice boutique hotel conveniently located in a quiet area near city centre. Consistent with other reviews, I found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very nice with a diverse menu; all reasonably priced. My room was large and spotlessly clean (although the carpet is due for replacement). Overall, the hotel presents good value. ||There were a few items that taken alone would have been unremarkable, but multiple issues start to add up and the following are worth mention. The lift is out of order (and appears to have been so for some time); the lounge was closed for most of my stay; the internet (wifi in my room) was unstable (and unusable for last 2-days and f my stay); the air conditioning in my room was very poor; and, only 2-channels on my TV were working (although I wasn’t here to watch TV). ||The hotel does offer airport shuttle service. This is an excellent hotel, with well-on-the-ball staff. It seems to receive the patronage of some high-society Kigali people.||The restaurant serves African food (as can be expected), sushi (unexpectedly good, by a Philippino chef), as well as Italian dishes. The room is scantly lit but offers a great view over the city, and service can show a few blunders, such as bringing the main dish before the starters.||The decoration (see photo) includes paintings of African animals, fitting well in this hotel. However, we are not sure if the Buddha, albeit magnificent, is at the right place in the hall.||The room was quite dark.
