Enough can't be said about this place and the mark it's left in the city of Kigali as a pioneer of phenomenal and classy Indian food.
I've been going here for over 10 years now and it would be a lie to say that I haven't had an absolutely fantastic experience with the food every single time. The chicken starters (Tikka, Tandoori, Mughlai etc.)... The mutton starters (Seekh Kebab etc.)... or even the vegetarian starters (Sabji Takatin, Paneer, etc.) are honestly enough to serve as a standalone meals with their juicy and incredibly flavorful profiles. But you won't want to miss out on their exceptional main course options by making that decision, my personal favorites are the Chicken Rogan Josh and Palak Paneer, had with a some butter naan and one mandatory cheese naan. You do NOT want to miss out on the cheese naan. This much food is good for at least 2 heavy-eaters.
Kiyovu will always be the OG location for Khana Khazana regardless of however many branches they open up, but I can vouch for their quality anywhere.
P.s. a little foodie tip for beginners and first time goers is to ask for the complimentary onion side if it isn't offered to you already. Also, and this is for extreme beginners, there's a magic box at the reception with complimentary mouth fresheners on your way out! Shhhh don't tell anyone! Oh also... make sure to have enough cash on you because the place could be a...
Read moreI recently dined at Khana Khazana in Kigali, and it was an experience to remember! I ordered the butter chicken, and it was absolutely delicious—creamy, flavorful, and with just the right balance of spices. The dish was prepared to perfection and came with a portion size that was satisfying without being overwhelming.
The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere that feels both cozy and upscale. The decor is tasteful, blending modern and traditional Indian elements that create an inviting and warm ambiance. It’s an ideal spot for a nice dinner with friends or family, or even a more intimate evening out.
The staff at Khana Khazana were attentive and friendly. From the moment I walked in, I felt well taken care of, with servers checking in frequently to ensure I had everything I needed. They were also knowledgeable about the menu, making great recommendations based on my tastes.
While prices are on the higher side, I feel the quality of food, service, and overall experience justify the cost. Khana Khazana offers an authentic Indian dining experience that’s well worth it for those looking to indulge in something special.
Overall, I highly recommend Khana Khazana to anyone in Kigali looking for high-quality Indian cuisine in a fantastic setting. The butter chicken alone is worth a visit, and I can’t wait to go back and try...
Read moreOne of the best Indian restaurants in Kiyovu Kigali loved by expats and locals alike. I went at around 3:30 on a normal weekday and it was not crowded at all. The place is clean and serene. Staff are friendly and the price is acceptable considering the high end location the restaurant is situated at, the good quality and big portions of the plates. I have seen many taking away their leftovers home. I had butter chicken curry (it is known by another name in the restaurant), steamed rice and garlic nan. Like most Indian restaurants they have a huge selection of dishes to choose from. I have noticed the starter menu only has about 74 different items 🤔 ... this may not be surprising taking into account the extreme diversity of food and culture in every province, region and neighbourhood in India though. Vegetarian options are available from starters to mains. They have a rich desert and drinks menu as well. As the food is pre-prepared, the plating process doesn't normally take much time and this works for you especially if you were hungry. By the way they also do free delivery. Overall I enjoyed my experience at the restaurant and would recommend it to Indian food lovers in Rwanda and those visiting from elsewhere. They have some Chinese food items as well. Parking is available within the compound...
