We booked New Madinah Hotel as the second part of our journey to Saudi Arabia, just after our Umrah at Makkah. The hotel is very conveniently located, within a 5 minute walk from Masjid Nabawi. The shuttle service area to Masjid Quba is also about 7 minutes of walking distance.
Rania was very helpful during the process, assisting us with her charming and smiling demeanour. Dates, Saudi coffee, water, tea and lemon-infused water were also always available at the reception.
Room: As rightly pointed out in the Booking app, the room has ample space, with three single beds and a large living area. The bathroom is proportionally large, with the bonus of a bathtub and a foot rinse. Amenities were carefully thought out. Beyond the availability of bathrobes, we each had the essential kit. While some areas of the room showed signs of age, the atmosphere was undeniably cosy and charming. Bedding was comfortable, which provided for restful sleep. Power outlets were somewhat awkwardly placed, but we found workarounds for our charging needs.
Food: Food was up to the expected standards for breakfast, with a large variety of hot dishes, yogurts, salads, juices. We must mention that the hot dishes, including curries were well-seasoned; the Indian and Pakistani based preparations were spot-on. The selection of breads and pastries was a pleasant surprise, and there was always something for everyone.
Service: Undeniably the strong point of the hotel. Staff was very attentive and caring. Special thanks to the kitchen staff: Mr Barkat was constantly on the move, checking on guests to ensure an optimal experience ( a special thank you to you Mr Barkat for the ginger lemon tea you made for our son who was coughing); chef Ahmad was a constant, sympathetic presence and extremely attentive and even prepared waffles for our son. Our room needs were also swiftly taken care of every time we had something to ask.
The general atmosphere was warm and cosy, with the selection of a warm lighting theme, along with the room furniture and colour scheme following this philosophy. As importantly, the same philosophy was embodied by the hotel staff, which is an excellent point. We had a very pleasant stay and we would recommend this establishment for anyone wishing to...
Read moreI recently stayed at New Madinah Hotel, and I would like to share my experience to help improve services. • Reception & Check-in: The staff at reception were polite and kind. However, there was a mistake with my reservation, which clearly included breakfast but was not recognized. I had to search for and show my confirmation email to prove this. I was concerned that if I had no access to my email, the situation could have been problematic. • Breakfast Service: The breakfast itself was reasonable. Special thanks to the staff member preparing the mixed eggs with vegetables, who was very kind. Unfortunately, we experienced unprofessional behavior from the head of the restaurant. On one occasion, he refused to let us sit at a table for six, despite the restaurant being empty, and could have easily arranged the seating differently. This created an unpleasant experience and gave the impression that service was linked to tipping. • Unequal Service: One of the most disappointing observations was that guests who paid higher tips received noticeably better service. For example, we requested an iron and ironing board on our first day and reminded the staff several times, but never received them. By chance, we noticed another guest receiving this service simply because they tipped more. This created a very negative impression of the hotel’s fairness and professionalism. Room Facilities: The TV in the room was analog with very poor picture quality, which did not match the standard expected from an IHG-listed hotel. • Overall Standards: While the hotel’s location near the Haram is convenient, it is in the middle of a very crowded marketplace, which makes the surroundings busy and noisy. Overall, the hotel was acceptable, but in my view, it does not meet IHG’s usual standards of quality and service, and it does not justify the price charged. In summary, although some staff members were polite and professional, the issues with fairness in service, room facilities, and the general management approach left me disappointed. I strongly recommend addressing these concerns, as they undermine the reputation of both the hotel and...
Read moreI have stayed in more than couple of hotels in my lifetime but this is by far the worst of all.The only good factor it entails is the location and proximity to Masjid e Nabawi. It is considered to be a bad omen to say anything negative about anything in Medina but I am trying to help the other pilgrims; please do not be fooled by the pictures on the website.||||The moment we entered, we were greeted with frowns. The managers at the reception hardly knew English and only spoke Arabic which was a big turn off. I saw no one smile back at us during my 5 day stay there even after we tipped the bell boy. ||||The internet is pathetic and it did not work for the last two days and when I called the manager, he gave me a number to call at. I called and the answer I get from the maintenance guy is, "This hotel is pathetic and the internet does not work majority of the times so this is it." We did not have internet for the last two days of our stay.||||They did not clean our rooms/bathrooms after the first day of stay and when I asked the manager, he told me to call the house keeping guy and straighten him up as it was not his job and he had nothing to do it. ||||Now comes the best part, we had breakfast during our stay and there were literally three dishes out which one was plain white rice, the other two being chicken sausages and a weird curry which I did not bother eating. You will not believe but the hotel did not have a toaster for toasting the bread so if you need to eat the bread, eat it like non-toasted or don't because they DO NOT CARE and they clearly stated it to our face multiple times.||||It is close to gate 25 which is very good but there are other options to choose from and even if you have to pay a bit more, please go for alternates because this hotel is...
