Everyone was very respectful and kind upon our arrival. Special thanks to Ms. Daniela (Lady in red),a very kind woman, she explained everything to us and was helpful with everything we needed. We were offered a welcome drink which we drank in the Lobby and the room was ready before we expected. The arrival to the room was pleasant, there was a surprise for our son, fruit and waters, which were replenished daily. We must mention the housekeeper Mrs. Jarmila, she made us feel very comfortable and she even remembered our names. She wiped everything, vacuumed properly, she was simply perfect. About services at breakfast and dinner, not everything was always listened to, the students/waiters forgot two out of three things. About eggs to order at breakfast- We waited about 35 minutes despite the fact that the occupancy was approx. 2/3 and people were ordering continuously. By the time the eggs finally arrived, our coffee and tea were cold. When we started eating the ordered eggs, we found out that instead of the ingredient we asked for, there were other ingredients and added cheese that we couldn't eat. We were sad and we lost a lot of time. The sad situations that arose at breakfast and dinner were saved by great, very kind and talkactive waiters like Mr. Tomas,Mr. Alex, Mr. Juraj and Miss Laura. They tried to correct the mistakes made by the students whom the hotel takes to practice. Such a luxury hotel should greatly reconsider who it hires as an intern, and above all, they should be given more training and attention from the manager, and certainly one student should not be alone of preparing eggs for orders for all the guests at breakfast. Many times communication between students, waiters and the kitchen was tied, and if the hotel does not change this in the future, it will spoil its name and discourage regular and demanding customers. Few words about the wellness zone and service. Very kind and helpful ladies and the overall cleanliness and services from the saunas to the pool were at a high level. The view from the wellness on the beautiful Štrbské pleso and the mountains is breathtaking. One can look at it for hours, one will probably never get tired of this view. After a pleasantly spent day, we have to talk about the evening, everything was without problems,we didn't manage to eat everything, so we asked for food/dessert to be brought to our room. After an hour and a half of waiting,we pressed the do not disturb button and put our son to sleep. We thought they forgot about us and we fell asleep too. To our surprise, despite the Do Not Disturb mode being turned on, we were woken up by a waiter who brought food that he was supposed to bring right after dinner. He didn't respect the Do Not Disturb button and woke up us. Let's move on to a positive thing. Everywhere in the hotel is extremely clean, people are helpfull. The food that is prepared by the chef is really amazing in taste and appearance too. We will focus on the restaurant and food separately in one of the other our posts. The hotel's position and overall functioning is comparable to the most lucrative hotels in Switzerland, which you can also find described in our Instagram posts and reviews. Many thanks for the nice gift from Ms. Daniela , which we received when leaving. Around the hotel there are many possibilities for sports and recreational activities. More on...
Read moreTitle: A Complete Disaster – This “5-Star” Hotel Should Be Downgraded Immediately!
If there is one review you read before booking this hotel, let it be this one. I wish someone had warned me before I wasted my money and my holiday here. This was, without exaggeration, one of the most uncomfortable, overpriced, and misleading hotel experiences I have ever had.
NO AIR CONDITIONING in a 5-star hotel. Yes, you read that right. Instead, they gave us a cheap fan while the room stayed unbearably hot. My son and I had to sleep sweating the entire night, which left me feeling unwell and exhausted.
The room was crawling with insects. I was disgusted and on edge the entire time. No amount of “housekeeping” can justify this in what they claim to be a luxury property.
Food? Overpriced and inedible. The chicken soup was revolting – one spoon was enough to put me off. For children, the only option was a bland burger. This is simply unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one charging luxury prices.
Service? Cold and unfriendly. The staff acted like they were doing me a favor just by speaking to me. Smiles are free – but here, apparently, they cost too much. The spa manager’s behavior was shockingly rude. She kicked me out of the gym at 10 PM, saying it was closed. In almost every real 5-star hotel I’ve stayed at, the gym is open 24/7 – especially important for mothers who can only work out once their kids are asleep.
The spa “experience” was a joke. I brought my son to play while I relaxed, but every single chair was “reserved” with towels – no effort to accommodate us.
Room amenities? Pathetic. No coffee machine – just a kettle and instant coffee sachets. This is something you’d expect in a cheap roadside inn, not in a hotel charging hundreds of euros a night.
Breakfast was an embarrassment. No waffles – something even budget hotels provide. When I ordered waffles and eggs for my son from the menu handed to me, they later gave me a bill, claiming it wasn’t included because I didn’t order from the “free” menu. This is misleading, unfair, and downright ridiculous.
And here’s the final insult: €650+ per night for the smallest room in the hotel. Was it worth it? Absolutely, 100%, NO.
Bottom line: This is not luxury. This is not comfort. This is not value for money. This is a perfect example of overpromising and underdelivering. If you care about your comfort, your health, and your money – stay far, far away from this place. I left feeling angry, cheated, and deeply...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed at the hotel for 5 nights in mid-September in a Grand Deluxe Lake View room. We really enjoyed our stay and we thought the service at the hotel is second to none. They truly think of everything! ||We were quite happy with our room - 307. It is a corner room on the top floor and has two windows overlooking the lake. My wife was expecting a balcony based on the website photos, but she then read the fine print that balconies are on extra surcharge. After viewing most of the balconies on the lake side (many are small with no furniture), we didn’t mind that we didn’t have a balcony. ||The weather was lovely while we were at the hotel, with highs in the 60s and low 70s. it was perfect for opening the windows. We had minimal issues with bugs, except for a few flies on the warmer afternoons. I really don’t see that it would be feasible to add AC or screens to the rooms since it is an historic hotel. ||We found our king bed comfortable. The pillows do tend to be too thin for our taste, but there is an extensive pillow menu. So we found pillows we were satisfied with. ||Housekeeping was excellent. There is also evening turn-down service. We had room service 3 times. Every time our food was delivered within 30 minutes, and the staff was incredibly polite and professional. ||The breakfast buffet is extensive. Even during fully booked times, we had no difficulty getting seated for breakfast. There is an egg station for eggs cooked to order. The hotel is well-staffed and, again, the level of service is impeccable. ||The pool area is large with ample loungers, all with bolsters and towels. There is a separate Adults Only lounge area with loungers overlooking the lake. The spa area has multiple stations: steam bath, infrared sauna, Finnish sauna, Arctic shower, to name a few. One area of improvement would be to have information available as to all of the spa amenities and how best to use them. ||We took walks around the beautiful lake every morning and thought how lucky we were to be able to access the lake so easily. We were able to park along the road in front of the hotel. We took day trips on our own to Spis Castle and Levoca, as well as to Lomnicky Pass. Would recommend both day trips. Also, there are loads of restaurants within walking distance, a couple around the lake and more in Strbske Pleso, which is about a 7-minute walk or a short drive. ||We really couldn’t have been happier...
