Overall the hotel is good if you have to stay in Zilina for some purpose: close to city centre and highway, good breakfast. The hotel overlooks railway which can be heard even at night.
However we were completely disapointed with our stay:
I understand an emergency could happen, but we booked a room 3 days before and it wasn't working already, on the arrival we were even given a welcoming letter suggesting visiting spa. Nothing was mentioned about it on the website and the staff also didn't inform us upon arrival, so we discovered it only in evening. When we started asking, lady on reception told us that anyway spa was not free for guests (btw it is also not mentioned on IHG page). But the question not only in the cost but in the offering a service which is already known is out of service.
It's first time I'm really dissapointed with my stay in IHG properties. However it's my second experinece this year when information on IHG website doesn't meet reality. I hope my review will prevent other guests from getting...
Read moreI decided to come to this hotel for a weekend stay to have some good relax, considering that the hotel has nice wellness area.
There was no information during booking process (or on booking confirmation) that the wellness area is closed. Also when I checked in, I received personalized welcome letter (as platinum IHG member), where I was also invited to relax in the wellness area. However - as written earlier, wellness area was closed. This impacted the stay as that was the primary reason, why I chosed this hotel. I could select different, cheaper one, that doesn't have wellness.
I have asked for second quilt at the reception. Receptionist told me, that there should be one in the wardrobe, in the room. When I came back to hotel late afternoon, I checked the wardrobe, but there was no second quilt, so I called reception to ask for it. Receptionist told me, that its too late (it was approx 7pm) and she has nobody who can give me second quilt. I asked her if she will find any solution for this situation, that would be nice. She confirmed that she will try, however...
Read moreWe have been staying at the Holiday Inn Zilina now for over five years, and we always look forward to our next stay.
The staff are friendly and welcoming, and always make our stay a pleasant and relaxing experience. My 4 year old son is always so excited when we go here, and all the staff know him by name.
The facilities are better than many 5 star hotels, a beautiful pool and fitness relax area on the top floor of the hotel with stunning views over the town and surrounding countryside. The hotel also boasts squash, tennis, bowling, gym, jacuzzi, pool, sauna and steam room facilities.
The hotel also has two bars and a restaurant where you can enjoy some good local specialities from a wide and varied menu to suit most tastes.
Zilina is surrounded by mountains and some beautiful countryside and there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities. The town is vibrant and has many nice cafes and a fun night life. Local people are very friendly and many people are speaking english and other foreign languages.
We highly recommend a stay at the...
