A nice little B&B (I say B&B, as it is in -no way- a hotel). Very close to the coach station by foot and near all the tram stops for quick access to the old town. Location is in a quiet residential road.||Nice cosy little single room with a huge balcony. Staff very welcoming and happy to offer advice - Luckily they mentioned a city 'open weekend' and had printed off some literature, so I could look this up and see a lot more than I normally would have.||However, these bathrooms were clearly created by women - why do I say that?|Try shaving in them. You whack your head on the shelf every time you lean down to splash water over your face - leading to a drowning of yourself and the floor. The sink is miniscule. The provided bottle of tap-water in the room was just irritating. Just give guests some proper mineral water!||The breakfast was hugely disappointing and not really worth anyone's time, to be honest. The sweet items and bread were stale, the coffee was subpar (although with their machine they could be making nice frothy coffees for everyone) and the few items you can order on-demand were.... eggs, or... eggs with a frankfurter. It really reminded me of a hostel setup, to be fair.||Why not simplify everything; fresh warm pastries and a wider choice of some cold meats and cheese instead?||Overall, a reasonably-priced place to rest and one with a nice little garden area. But scrapping the eco-friendly nonsense would be well-advised and add a more premium-feel to the experience. Removing breakfast entirely (or greatly improving it) would be...
Read moreLocated 1.5 km from both the train station and the old centre, on a side street, the hotel Arcus is quieter than most and obviously recently renovated. The reception is a nice office, where you can leave your luggage if need be. There's carpet on the floor so you don't ear people walking in the hallways. You can go in the garden at the back or simply sit on a balcony. Very pleasant.||My single room was on the first floor, facing the garden. The bed was large for a single, very firm actually, and with large pillows. There was a nice work area with desk & chair plus a small fridge. On the dresser, a small tv. Bathroom was nicely done with tiles, super clean, with towels, dryer and shower (no bath). Lighting in front of mirror could be better however. Hot water took a couple of minutes to come up but there was a sign in the shower about it. Wifi was a bit slow but it worked.||Breakfast is offered at extra cost starting at 7 am and is served in a nice dining room in the basement. I did not take it since I was leaving early. Menu look inviting.||Hotel Arcus is a small place that offers good value for money on top of being very quiet. Staff is polite and helpful. You can walk to the old town, train/bus station or take the tram. There's a small supermarket and a gas station 3 minutes away. Note: early check-in...
Read moreThis hotel suited my few nights away perfectly on the fringe of the old town without the noise of a city. I make it 20min brisk walk to the centre and also the large bus station (I'd come in via Vienna 50min coach ride)|Unexpected pluses:- the spiral staircase others have seen it differently but its a lovely feature in its own right and in my case its use was an excuse to indulge in the freshly cooked pancakes at breakfast. I saw others have scrabbled egg etc all looked nice non was sitting there in trays all was cooked fresh a real plus for me.|Now I know I was solo but the room was a nice size and well set out. Plenty of hot water and the bath filled up quickly.|Not really any negatives for me the staff were all pleasant and this was illustrated for me when I tried to pay by card and for some reason it wouldn't complete the transaction (no I hadn't forgotten the pin and yes I had funds) anyway the receptionist was very relaxed about it and it worked...
