It was our 3rd time in FIS. Our feeling during previous visits were mixed, but still positive enough to come back.||Unfortunately this time it was not the case, due to poor service and unprofessional management...||||Starting with positives:||1. Location is great -just next to the slopes, with nice view -perfect.||2. The design in common areas (reception, restaurant, ski-bar) is nice, modern and classy -with beautiful furniture and lights.||3. The size of the hotel -just right -not too small not too big.||4. Swimming pool -very small, but nice. The opening hours are surprisingly short (15.00-18.00 for families, 18.00-21.00 for adults), but it is manageable.||||Negatives:||1. Management of the restaurant -people are nice and smiling, but they are not able to help and it does not seem they care about it -few examples:||-there are fixed menus at the dinner -choice of a starter or soup, choice between two main dishes and a dessert -you make your decision in the morning, so it seems to be easy to manage, as all the dishes are precooked… It is not. We were waiting almost an hour for the starter and soups! As children were really hungry, I have asked them after 30 min wait to bring at least the soups for them. The answer was: they could not because they were really busy… When I have asked them to call the Chief, they came back saying, they refuse to meet…||-the breakfast is buffet-style and is served until 10.00. We were usually coming around 9.30 and the choice was very limited and the “leftovers” looked really bad (you were not willing to taste fried eggs, ham or other meet as it all did not look fresh at all). In most of the cases they were bringing you the finished items after demand, but it was taking them long time and how many times you make ask…||-you may order some “fast” dishes in the ski-bar (burger, soup, French fries, salad) for lunch during the day, but they are often not fast at all.||2. Quality and variety of food for breakfast –very basic food, the same choice every day, poor quality coffee (you may order really good coffee at the bar) –far below four star standard they claim.||3. Quality of cleaning service –they “clean” every day, but the service is really poor, they just wipe the floor fast and change towels, in few occasions they washed the glasses, but made it the way, we had to wash them again –again not what you would expect from four star hotel.||4. Top management. The hotel is run by a couple (they probably owe the property, but I am not sure about it). During our previous stays in the hotel, I have hardly had occasion to meet them. This time, they were there all the time. You would expect that to have positive impact, but it is not in my opinion. It may be the case that they had some good management before and they try to manage the business on their own now. It does not work well and the result is poor service described above. In addition, the owner/ top manager is just rude when receiving negative feedback:||-when I have complained him about slow service described above (almost 60 minutes waiting time for just a soup), he has started to argue with me saying it is normal in busy time… He was really rude, what has really shocked me. ||-I have called the reception asking for table reservation for two families. They took the reservation, but when we have arrived, the top manager/ owner stopped us saying, there was no place for us, we would need to wait for 30-40 minutes and they do not take reservation… What would you say?...||To sum up –Hotel FIS has a lot of potential to become a great place to spend winter holidays with its location and premises, but it needs proper management in all the areas. The owners will hopefully understand it and employ somebody to make a job.||||Until it happens I do not...
Read moreMy mom stayed at Jasna hotel while we had an apartment at the nearby (20m away) Kwasnicnik which is a part of Jasna Hotel group except the rooms have a kitchen while Jasna rooms are more of a fancy hotel style. Our reception and breakfasts were at Jasna Hotel. The buildings of Jasna and Kwasnicnik are only separated with small free parking available to guests, and they look freshly renovated in a cosy, modern style with wooden and brick finishings. The bathrooms are super clean and modern.
Jasna Hotel has a nice Wellness center (at a small fee) with two small saunas and a jacuzzi and showers. We enjoyed the sauna and jacuzzi very much and it was perfect after a day of skiing. From 5 pm Jasna restaurant offers delicious dinners and amazing desserts from a nearby city from a Michelin Star pastry chef. We checked a few bars and restaurants around but they weren't half as good as Jasna so we eventually stopped venturing out and just enjoyed our awesome hotel. Also, some bars around didn't allow payment with cards and Jasna did so it was easier for us. If you venture anywhere else it's good to have some cash with you.
Most of all, we chose this place because of the direct access to the slope and indeed, we could ski from our door. We also had a view to the Biela Put slope that offers skiing at night so we could see people ski in the evenings. We were close to 3 different ski lines/trolleys that take you towards the Chopok peak so all very convenient.
Going back was also relatively easy as the region offers free shuttle buses to nearby villages. It seems it might also be a nice place in the summer with some caves around to visit, a trolley for non-ski people going half-way to Chopok, and lots of Wellness and Thermal bath options in the area. There is also some Tarzania climbing venue in a walking distance and a direct bus to Tartralandia waterpark with some surfing. Pretty cool overall. We liked our...
Read moreMe and my husband went here for holiday for 2 nights and found it basic. Hotel itself is beautiful from outside but the rooms are very simple. Double bed was very hard and my husband suffered with bad back pain from it. There is a kettle but no cups, also there is no selection of teas or coffee or similar. No fridge, no safe. Room was noisy. We were woken up many times by someone walking in upstairs corridors, I could even hear someone snoring. Restaurant sells average food but closes at 8pm. Not ideal if you go for holiday and your original plan was to have a lovely time in the evening with a glass of red with your partner. Here you will end up at 8pm in your room. Waitress was on her phone. Hotel has great private spa! 2 saunas, cold showers and jacuzzi. We hired the spa for £10 per person per hour. Very good price. Breakfast was very basic, but everyone finds something they can eat. But what was shocking was the service of the reception. We had a dinner first night, they gave us our bill and asked to pay for it at the reception. We stopped by, wanted to pay but as it was after 8pm receptionist said, pay it tomorrow. So we went out to have a drink somewhere else. Within one hour the same receptionist started to call us, saying that we left without paying for our dinner. They would not put the bill on our room. They asked us to come back to the hotel to pay!?! Of course we refused and said we will pay next day. In the morning they started to call my mobile from before 8am, by 9 I had at least 3 missed calls. How rude. They woke us up and I still don’t get why. They knew we are in the room, our car was in their car park, our stuff in the room. We were not robbing anyone. We found it so rude. Overall this hotel has a feel of a hostel. Value doesn’t match the price. It should be cheaper for what you get. If you are planning to go here make sure you go in the right season. Otherwise it can be...
