Hotel Zlaté Košice — Hotel in Košice

There were 5 of us staying at this B&B for 3 nights during a congress held in Košice. We had a suite of 2 rooms a spacious living-room and a bathroom.||The rooms were quite OK. Very tastelessly furnished and decorated but ok. However, most of the doors couldn't be closed, the TV remote wasn't working (in fact, it was a different brand than the TV itself so probably that's why) and a wire was hanging from the light switch with missing cover. The worst part of the room was the bathroom. Again, uncloseable and unlockable doors, everything filthy with the cherry on the top - the almost alive bath rug. Stepping into the bath tub was followed by a loud crack sound and sometimes the front "wall" of the tub fell off. Really a disgusting experience.||The breakfasts were terrible as well. Poor, small, tasteless. There were 8 breakfast menus. When I ordered scrambled eggs, I got only the eggs and old bread, not even butter. And it was similar with all the menus. Even the tea was untasty (and the amount of it was very poor for breakfast). I even had one of the worst coffees in my life in their restaurant.||All in all, the whole B&B is dirty (beginning with the stairs to the reception desk in the first floor), badly maintained and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. There are lots and lots of better options in Košice. Our collegues lived in various hotels and B&Bs during the congress and they were all happy with it. Except for us...

First to positives – great location...That´s it. Even though one of the cheapest options in the city, I would not stay in here again unless I have to. Otherwise than the location not worth any money. ||Receptionist not much helpful or informed himself. Pretty dirty room, especially the floors, incl. bathroom. Bed and towels were fine. Liquid hand soap & shower gel available.||Although specifically asked for room with internet, and complaining about no connection immediately, their router was not working the whole night so I had to use the nonsecure and not very stable public wifi connection. From TV channels only 3 were working – Czech music one, Slovak news and a probably Dutch one. ||Very thin walls - I could hear conversation and music from the corridors, neighbouring room and close pub. Terribly creaking floors all around. ||With regard to breakfast – 8 menus to choose from, however, after ordering one of them, they had to go to nearby shop to buy offered pastry. So my supposedly quick breakfast prolonged to 35 mins. Also the B&B´s boss/owner was complaining/lecturing their incompetent stuff right in front of the guests. Not very professional. But maybe they will improve. However, I will rather try neighbouring Villa Regia...

Ich kam erst gegen ca. 23h mit dem Auto an und war, nachdem ich Mühe hatte sie zu finden, froh, dass die Pension noch Zimmer frei hatte. Die vergleichsweise hohen Preise überraschten mich, Parkplatz gab es auch keinen, aber ich hatte einige Stunden an der Grenze hinter mir, darum war ich froh unterzukommen, und die Pension liegt schön in der Altstadt von Kosice. ||Ich hätte beinahe das erste Zimmer genommen, das sie mir anboten (ca. 43€), aber dieser Raum hatte überhaupt keine Fenster (auch keine Klimaanlage). Also nahm ich das Zimmer einen Stock höher unterm Dach mit Dachfenster (und Klima) für knapp 50€. Geräumig, die Wände schön mit Holz verkleidet, die Dusche im Bad zwar seltsamerweise ohne Vorhang, aber ansonsten alles ok.||Die Frau an der Rezeption wollte mich zum McDonalds schicken, als ich nach einem noch offenen Restaurant fragte (geht anstatt dessen ins Certov Dvor in der Altstadt! Sehr nett, Küche hat bis nach Mitternacht offen), war ansonsten aber freundlich.||||Ich schlief die Nacht wie ein Toter - bis 7h morgens. Von da an lief eine Angestellte von einem Dienstraum neben meinem Zimmer aus über eine Stunde lang ständig telefonierend an meinem Zimmer vorbei und schien andere Gastzimmer zu überprüfen. Die Wände meines Zimmers bestanden offenbar nur aus der Verkleidung, und die Holzdielen gingen unter den Zimmern hindurch, so dass sich jedes Geräusch und jeder Schritt direkt übertrugen. Kurz nach halb 9 wechselte die Waschmaschine im Dienstzimmer in den Schleudergang, und mein Zimmer begann zu vibrieren. ||Ich gab auf, ging ins Bad. Der Duschkopf hatte eine klasse Reichweite; nach dem Duschen war nicht nur der Klositz, sondern auch das Toilettenpapier auf der Halterung an der Wand nass.||Ich wusste schon vom Vorabend, dass das Frühstück im Restaurant der Pension extra kostet (etwas über 3€). Das Restaurant hatte eine ziemlich nüchterne Atmosphäre, die Musik aus den Lautsprechern hatte schwer zu kämpfen mit der brummenden Störfrequenz im Hintergrund. Beim Auswählen des Frühstücks stellte sich heraus, dass Getränke nicht inbegriffen sind. So waren es am Ende für alles zusammen über 55€. ||Dafür dass ab 7h nicht mehr an schlafen zu denken war, einfach zu viel! Was steht doch im Hotelprospekt: "In fünfzehn modern eingerichteten 2 - Zimmer betten finden Sie genug Behagen und Erholung."||||Zum Vergleich: Übernachtung in Zilina, Pension Hubert (sehr gut!) 28€ mit Frühstück, in Kezmarok, Pension Max ohne Frühstück (2-Bett-Zimmer; auch gut) 30€. ||Die Altstadt von Kosice lohnt aber in jedem Fall einen Besuch!
