Overall very positive experience.
Location: Couldn't have been better. In the centre of the Kranjska Gora. The back opens out onto the ski schools and bottom of the slopes and the front is on the main town street opposite the ski bus stop (for other slopes down the valley) and shops/bakery/cafes etc. The storage room leads out onto the slopes as well.
Food: We are a family of 3 vegetarians and 1 vegan. Other than 1 evening during a 7 night stay there was always plenty to eat and the quality of the food was very good. There were usually 2-3 main veggie options at dinner and there was always 1 soup option. The chef and staff were happy to confirm what was vegetarian and also that the veggie soup didn't contain any meat/fish stock. The breakfast was very good and varied. Our little ones loved the chocolate spread, cereals and fruit juice as well as some veggie aspects of the cooked breakfast. They also had some vegan options including a vegan cheese board at breakfast but it was harder to find consistent vegan options compared to veggie ones.
Drinks: The Slovenian beer and wine were very good and reasonably priced. The only recommendation would be to put out the drinks menus on each table so customers can chose. The drinks were extra to the food but it was unclear what was available without asking and there was a table with a stack of drinks menus that were just never handed out which seemed odd. It would be nice to have water on the table for evening dinner and access to the fruit juice machine.
Rooms: We had two twin rooms. They didn't have adjoining rooms and we were at opposite ends of the corridor on the same floor. This was fine though and not an issue. The rooms were clean and well presented. The TV was good with some english channels and included a sports channel covering premier league games. They also had an english speaking kids channel and disney which was a bonus for tired children after a long day on the slopes. The hotel was quiet and we went at a busy half-term. Beds were very comfortable and we got a good nights sleep each day.
Kids club: We used this twice and had a very positive experience. It was fairly basic but equally enough to keep kids occupied and the staff were brilliant. Our daughter made a friend and got to make a lavender filled pouch to take home with her. They also got invited to a kids disco held at the hotel opposite one evening.
Wellness: The pool was excellent. Very clean and extensive. No issues with being charged for towels which others had mentioned and we brought our room towels down each day. The kids loved the different sections and enjoyed going down each day after they'd finished ski lessons and before dinner. The pool looks out onto the slopes so you can see the night skiing on some of the evenings whilst swimming. The only negative was the showers before and after swim were freezing. My wife got a massage on a couple of the days which was reasonably priced and very good.
Hotel staff: Generally very friendly and accomodating. Happy to help with any queries. We came during UK and Slovenian half term. Probably 90% of guests and kids were local but we felt very welcome and staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
Would highly recommend to others and we would be keen to come...

Let me start off with the positive and the sole reason for that "extra" star. It will be a short list, so here it goes: The hotel lies right next to the ski slope. If the only (and I do mean only) thing you care about is getting up and going skiing right away, you may consider this as your potential part-time residence. Anything else, move along, there have to be better options.
Upon arriving we waited for almost 10 minutes in front of an empty desk. Not even that, there were two gentlemen fiddling with a printer without even acknowledging us. A simple sorry, it will be a minute would more than suffice. We spent that time looking around and realizing that the whole place was pretty outdated and poorly managed. When we finally came to our room, it was much smaller than advertised. It had only the bare minimum that a hotel ought to have. And it was hot, unbearably hot (26°C on the baby monitor). Upon complaining I stood in line behind a lady complaining that her room was too cold. We both got an explanation that everything was centrally controlled. And no, opening the window could not solve the problem in tle long run since it was -5°C outside. Next in line in this highway robbery were the bathrobes which were 5€ "per use" and the towels for the pool were 2€ for hotel guests paying 200€+ a night! On the subject of the pool (which was a huge draw for our family since we have a baby that loves to swim), the water was cold. Not by the baby criteria cold but cold as 90% of all the pool-goers crammed in one hot tub suited for 10 people. The air was of similar temperature which made a lengthy stay unbearable. Moving on to the food, it was subpar and repetitive. The staff seems fed up and could be described as nice in 1/3 of cases (and I am being generous here). Thankfully we used a hotel just for a starting point for outdoor activities and the weather was nice, so there was no reason to spend any additional time inside. If we had to, we would probably call it a done deal after the first night. The checkout process was the epitome of the whole experience. We waited in line for 30 (!) minutes watching three people operating two computers and all relying on the one competent member of the staff.
Let me emphasize that this criticism is written with the cost and the star count in mind (which are both too high). If it were a 3 star hotel for a third of the price, I would accept everything as a compromise.
We love Kranjska Gora and will continue to visit, but Ramada will only remain as a teaching...
Read moreLet me start off by saying I have been a guest in Kranjska Gora every winter for the last 20+ years (skiing trips) so I have more than enough experience in these Ramada hotels.
The hotel that I prefer “Prisank” (now known as Ramada Hotel & Suites) was unavailable this year so they offered us to stay in this one (Ramada Resort) previous name “Larix”, for the same price.
Now, I have been a guest in Hotel Larix many times before but it was a very long time ago (cca 2005) and I remember it to be a very nice hotel in which I was satisfied with everything (in fact it is also a little more expensive than Prisank) so I was looking forward to it.
Not this year. Having been staying in Prisank all these previous years I have now really seen the difference between these two hotels. It is like they are not part of the same company and management (Ramada). I don’t know if this is because of Covid times but everything in Hotel Larix was subpar this year.
The rooms and bathroom are very small like many people said, also a little dated and need renovation but that is a statement that the management is familiar with. Beds are comfortable.
But, no electric kettle, no complimentary tea or snacks or anything in the room to welcome you and only one drinking glass is something they should look into and change.
What I was most dissapointed about was the food (breakfast and dinner), it was ok but by far not meeting the standards I was used to in Hotel Prisank. Also the ski bar of the hotel which doesn’t work at night and you can’t order anything to eat after dinner.
The staff was ok and friendly, pool was good as always but the 5€ bathrobe was a joke.
Best thing about this hotel is it’s location, very accessible ski room and closeness to the ski slopes (basically the best location in Kranjska Gora if you are there for skiing)
Simply put, I am dissapointed at the price-performance ratio this year. This hotel is not worth the price of the stay, either the management has to lower the prices or step up in some aspects of hosting.
Until then, I will not be returning to Ramada Resort next year and will be booking the much better Ramada Hotel & Suites. I don’t mind the 2 minute walk to the piste if everything else is one...
