I stayed one night in this hotel as a treat. In short, the hotel is very nice. I loved the room’s design, reception staff were lovely and breakfast which was included was really amazing. I’ve worked in hospitality and travelled a fair bit and I think this is one of the best breakfasts I’ve experienced. Nothing super fancy but a touch of difference and originality (humus, local pastries, homemade smoothies) Yet not everything was exactly perfect, sorry I really don’t like to write negative things but here is what can be improved. 2 things: Prior to arriving I felt a bit pressured as in the same day I received a text, an email and a WhatsApp message all asking me to do pre checking-in… I think it was a bit much. One communication is enough and worst case scenario I don’t do the pre check-in and everybody still is happy don’t think? I know there is a lot of care taken about arriving by car because like most towns on the coast cars are not able to access the center but in my case there was no car involved and I had read the info when booking anyway. I tried the pizzeria and the food was very good and reasonably priced but I believe staff is undertrained or unhappy (maybe both) I really was disappointed in service, almost felt like I was bothering them, won’t go into details but this is something to work on. So I would give the 4,5/5 score if I could because it wasn’t far from perfect but there are still ways to improve and I wish you every success in it because the place is beautiful and looks like staff is working hard to make it great. Maybe I went to pizzeria on the wrong...
Read moreGrand Koper Hotel is not a location but a feeling. And that is something that is rarely achieved in tourism. Thank you for being my hosts for 12 modest days [11 evenings]. The location is beautiful and something that, in my opinion, is the best you can find along the Slovenian coast. The story of how I am a person who spends 20 days a month traveling somehow starts in a standard way. Until you are greeted by the kindness and cordiality of the staff who, even though it was 2 am, greeted me with a smile in my native Macedonian language with wishes for a nice stay. And that is not all. In this hotel, the staff of all categories is not only professional but also unique in their approach to each of their clients - guests. Small gestures of immense kindness. Like the one when my wish that I would like the glass to be next to my bedside table was silently understood. It is a fact that in this hotel things do not work "on automatic basis". The breakfast is 1O out of 1O and again it's not just the quality of the food but the kindness of the staff. The food in the restaurants that are part of the hotel is something that complements the concept. And you don't need a pool for 5 stars. You have one star for humanity towards the client. Every good morning - a good day and a pleasant evening. It's a lifestyle. Warmest recommendations to everyone who wants to get to know the Slovenian coast. There are hotels that are "classics" but Koper is the real experience. Thank you for...
Read moreThis is the only hotel in the old city and should be a prime destination. We had a room on the second floor but was told the lift only went to the first floor and then we had a long walk and a flight of stairs to reach our room which was very small. The bed linen was clean and the view over the marina was stunning - the only things that were positive. The most worrying thing was the filthy (and I mean filthy!) fitted carpet and the worn state of it on the treads of the staircase - a hazard for older clients and children in a hurry to get downstairs! When we asked for two extra pillows we were regarded with amazement. The receptionists did their best to be helpful and spoke a huge number of languages. The wifi only worked in the lobby. The first night we realised we had no glasses for water and had to ask for them the next day as the phone to reception didn't seem to work! We paid 86 euros for this a night including breakfast. Breakfast was served in the adjacent cafe (not owned by the hotel) and was poor - 'plastic' ham and cheese slices, juice that could have been coloured sugar water, mini buns and solid scrambled egg. The coffee was in a flask as was hot water to make tea only it was never hot enough to extract the tea from the teabag! Such a shame as this could be a great place because of its position. My adivce? Rip up that disgusting carpet and clean the walls...
