I recently stayed at King George’s Guest House, expecting a 4-star experience based on its excellent reviews. Unfortunately, my stay fell far below these expectations.
The room was in an unacceptable condition: it was dirty, poorly maintained, and lacked the standard of cleanliness and quality one would expect. The towels were worn out, a bleach-stained bathmat was left in the bathroom, and there was visible algae in the shower. The furniture, though handmade, was in poor condition, and the overall environment did not reflect the advertised 4-star rating.
When I raised my concerns, the owner was dismissive and defensive, refusing to acknowledge the severity of the issues or offer a resolution. The response I received was unprofessional, and my valid complaints were met with accusations and deflection.
As a frequent traveler, I rely on honest reviews to guide my decisions, and I feel it is important to share my experience to ensure others are aware of these shortcomings. I hope the management uses this feedback to improve the guesthouse, as it has the potential to meet the standards it advertises.
I cannot recommend this establishment in its current state and urge prospective guests to consider this review...
Read moreThank you so much for being so accommodating about the late checkout! ||This guest house was well located for our needs and the room was spacious. Rather outdated furnishings, but I was happy to look past that because of the other positives: great breakfast, friendly host, and being able to book out late (we did request ahead).||Perhaps there was a weight-plate at the gate exit, but it was not working, so it was a bit difficult to exit with a vehicle without using a remote, so we weren't sure what to do with the remote and keys when we departed....could not find a box on the outside. (also at night the main gate was a bit dark.... but with GPS its easy to find).||||See you...
Read moreThis is a Rolls Royce of a guest house! One of the best I have ever stayed in, and I travel extensively. The rooms are large, elegantly appointed, totally individual spaces, in two adjoined, classic but comfortable houses, that hark back to a gentler, more generous era. The two swimming pools are sparkling and pristine, and the gardens lush but casual. But what makes this establishment really remarkable, besides its cleanliness and beautiful decor, is the care and attention of the owners. The meals they made for us were excellent, and the attention to every detail of our stay was remarkable. I wouldn't stay anywhere else on a return...
