We spent two weeks here as part of a business trip. All the staff were very friendly and went out of their way to accommodate our needs (e.g. early breakfast) - remembering our meal preferences for example. The well-equipped kitchenette in the room gave us the option of buying from the supermarket (10 minute walk around the corner) and making salads so we didn't have to rely on take-out/eating out every day and meant that we could work easily in the room or on the roof. The area is safe with many embassies nearby. It's a stone's throw from the Union Buildings a 5-minute drive (or 20 minute walk) from Hatfield Gau Train station. The city centre is also walkable. On arrival the reception area wasn't very clean and welcoming. There was no wifi, telkom line was damaged but fixed the next day.
This place has serious work to be done, broken veranda, no TV in room, shower head and curtain needs replacing. There was no milk, coffee was old and hard in container.
Guest were noisy and not respect for other guests.
The place may have potential in future but needs to be properly cleaned and fixed up before allowing guests to live there.

My daughter attended Tuks University during this time and we would often stay together at Fern Ivy during her exams as she felt like she was at home and relaxed.
