Pebble Fountain Guesthouse — Hotel in Gauteng

Pebble Fountain was my home for a week while working in Pretoria.||||It was very quiet - sometimes I was the only guest- but a good base. Lovely public areas - lounge, terrace, pool etc. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. I was in single room upstairs which was comfortable. A little out of the ordinary was the fact the bathroom was really built into a corner of the room rather than a separate space. My room had a small TV mounted high on the wall and it did not seem to have satellite TV. Downstairs lounge apparently satellite TV but I never found the controls! Wifi is good most places but patchy from my room which was the furthest away from the office.||||Breakfast was very good and I ate in several nights - plenty of food- home cooking basically. ||||It is half way between Hatfield and Brooklyn and so safe to walk around the suburbs during the day. I walked to Brooklyn Mall about 20 minutes away for a beer and to buy things. Malls are now big in Pretoria as the place people go to. ||||After dark one is advised to travel by car but taxis are not easily found. The Guesthouse has an arrangement with a private taxi who can be booked in advance. As a result it was easier to eat in when I was not having work dinners.||||One thing that would help is better information about what the guest house offers. It was only on my third day did I discover they offer bar service ( and at reasonable prices) so I didn't have to juggle with trying to get to Brooklyn before dark for a drink! Also information about the taxi etc was only discovered when I asked. ||||The guest house has security fencing all around it and I felt perfectly safe while there. Great location for anyone visiting University of Pretoria - 3 min walk...

I have frequented the guesthouse multiple times over the last five years due to its proximity to the University of Pretoria's main campus as I could walk there and back. I have gotten to know the staff over the years and have always found them to be very welcoming, friendly and helpful and going the extra mile when I had a special request. I was always accommodated in the same room on the first floor as the view from the top is lovely overlooking the gardens and swimming pool. We stayed at this guesthouse only for one night, but we were pleased with the accommodation and very happy with the excellent service provided by the friendly staff. Our king room upstairs was spacious and had a comfortable bed and it offered nice views of the pool and garden. It also had air conditioning which was very nice given the warm temperatures during our visit.||||Good wifi and secured parking were a plus.||||Nice breakfast to start your day.||||We drove to Brooklyn mall for dinner. It is very close to the guesthouse by car.||||We would return here if we come back...
