The University of Pretoria's science center is like a theme park for nerds, but with no admission charge. Like Disneyland, only with education instead of popcorn. Children can push levers, hit buttons, and play with technical devices. My daughter didn't want to leave the hall of mirrors, probably because she was the only person there who really looked like her. She also actually learned something about prisms, lasers, and light refraction for the first time since I taught her the periodic table in kindergarten. At the entrance, they said you needed an appointment, but anyone who looked friendly (or seemed confused enough) was simply waved through. Bottom line: A place that sells children knowledge without taking their pocket money. Fun...
Read moreGreat little place full of cool activities. I went with my 12 and 10 year old children and we stayed over 2 hours. So if you’re general public, like us, park by the main entrance! We are eager to go back, especially because a couple of cool exhibits were closed due to repairs: the mirror maze and...
Read moreThis place was not only interesting but also very enlightening as the Centre has been equipped with lots of scientific exhibitions to demonstrate some of the real practical applications of science not only to learners but also undergraduate and Postgraduate students as well.
For learners, I strongly believe it will whet their appetite to yearn to go into the studies of science with these practical demonstrations. I recommend basic school authorities to take advantage of the opening hours to bring learners to visit the facility, since it will make them develop strong affections for the...
