A beautiful place and all roundly comfortable one. Location: convenient.
Staff: friendly and helpful, from security to restaurant to housekeeping. The restaurant staff especially are always on hand, once a guest makes an appearance for a meal, checking if you need anything and such. To the security lady who was stationed at the B1 carpark I can't remember her name now, for your dedication to the safety of people's properties, thank you! She called out some rough looking guy who was going from car to car it would seem, claiming he was admiring them the issue escalated quickly that morning...
Shuttle: I may have been the only one who had issue with getting airport shuttle for me on arrival having sent mails to make reservation for my pick up but ended up stranded but subsequent use of shuttle for departure was smooth. When you book a shuttle, you should get a confirmation (mail) first and don't be on the lookout for a Capital on the Park shuttle it is an outsourced service to Kwathlano (or thereabouts) so be on the lookout for that name instead on arrival and if your reservation goes through the driver should have your name on a placard in the arrival hall. With free shuttles to and fro Mandela square, one can plan sightseeing and shopping trips within the allotted times. My thanks to the shuttle driver who conveyed me to NMS during his break time, thank you for doing that.
Food: Oh well, the food is okay. The sweets have you literally hooked, your discipline takes a back seat in the face of those. They, however committed an ABOMINATION and tagged it 'jollof rice' Lawd, I was screaming in horror some guests on the buffet line couldn't help but ask, are you from Nigeria?? at my reaction. Please people DO NOT offend the jollof gods like that ever again!
Housekeeping: Guys, I am a chocolate drinker, I had supply for my first two days there and that was it, I asked on the 3rd day and only 1 sachet was brought...thank goodness I had my personal supply.
Internet: The WiFi will keep you happy done right...because we had meeting rooms where we were offline because it wasn't working.
Power supply: One of those days the power cut was so frequent, even I who is very familiar with it was tired. We spent almost 15-20mins thereabouts in darkness at plenary during...
Read moreI don't understand why I'm seeing so many good reviews, so I'm going to share my real personal with the staff and rooms. First off, when we first came into the room, everything was fine! Perfect! Big rooms! Right? Next, it was my daughters birthday and so we dressed up and started to take pictures on the lobby. Lobby is great except for the staff... We took pictures in front of like a table by the lobby, and we were approached by a reception lady. She first asked if we were staying, which, like obviously, we were because who is going to come to a hotel dressed up and already know where to take pictures like what?? The next thing she said was that we can't take pictures, so where did public property go? She left us alone, and we carried on our day. Then we noticed her talking to a security guard to try and kick us out. But we are staying there? The reception ladies were on our nerves. I went up to the reception and I was so mad. I asked, "So what is the problem?" She answered that we couldn't take pictures with people inside the photo. I was like, maybe they have different rules about photos in South africa that are different from the U.S. They kept watching us take photos. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL! Me and my family went back into our room and we searched this made-up law on their government website. AND GUESS WHAT I FOUND. All it says that as long as you are bot using the photos with the people in them for commercial use. Then take pictures all you want. I was going crazy at that point because that lady just didn't want us their. Plus, she ruined my daughters birthday. After a couple minutes we went to the restaurant, ordered our food and waited right? No it took them more than 1 hour to make our food and there was like nobody their. So I straight up stood up and left. Maybe it's different for couple or singles. BUT IF YOU ARE A FAMILY. DO NOT COME HERE I REPEAT. 5 star hotel, you say? Should've stayed at four seasons for...
Read moreChecked in on a Sat and my room faced a busy road. I took a shower and the floor of the bathroom was flooded because the shower door was allowing it underneath. The bathroom had a bad smell that was very noticeable.
I went to the desk on Sun and asked to change rooms because of these things. Being a light sleeper, the road is quite busy and noisy. They said the hotel was fully booked and they would call me on Mon to touch base and see if they could move me. A man came to the room and put some detergent down the shower drain but said the shower tiles needed to be pulled up and reset so the water didn’t run out anymore. Obviously that isn’t something that could be done then.
There was no call on Mon nor any other time during the week. I didn’t sleep very well because of the noise but the smell from the bathroom continued and was bad. I was not contacted by anyone from the hotel.
Then the WiFi went off and I work from home, so I called and asked to have it checked. The lady said she would contact maintenance. I waited 36 mins and called again and she once again said she would contact maintenance. They finally showed up and said they would check the server. In the meantime I removed the router in the ceiling and inputted it and plugged it back in and the WiFi worked again. Another 30 mins after that the guy came back to check but I had already fixed it.
Apparently check out time is 10am at this hotel which I wasn’t informed of. A man knocked on my door at 11:30 saying check out was 10am. He said they needed me out so they could make up the room for a new guest checking in at 12:30, even though when I arrived early I was made to wait an hour to check in. This man was very rude and condescending. I would never stay in this hotel again for the price. There are so many nice hotels to choose from. Was expecting...
