The Radisson Blu experience is quite voluptous I must say, everything is well thought out down to the smallest of details as I will explain in a bit. I enjoyed every aspect of it. First lets begin with the excellent reception we received. The staff welcomed us with overwhelming respect and kept a professional demeanor throughtout to the point were I felt royal. One particular person being Tumelo from the business lounge that made sure we were comfortable and well fed. This hotel clearly keeps business and pleasure in mind, as you walk in, you are greeted with a custom message on the TV Screen that gives you a mini tour of the system interface and all it offers. It is also equally perfect for a weekend away with a loved one as the setting suits the mood as well. Everything is simply at the touch of a button and even come with Mindfulness and Physical exercises which I recomend you take each morning. The room service is exceptional as well and Siphiwe did make sure that everything was reset each morning. The view was very incredible as well especially at night. The room has a large glass/wood table that spans across the wall just below the TV, this will be a great working space if you need to carry out any business inside and the WiFi is fairly fast. Be sure to bring along an HDMI cable to connect to the tv and just like that, you enhance you personal workspace, the TV also supports Screen Mirroring for mobile devices with the feature I do appreciate the thought of adding multiple languages and international radio stations although spotify would be great. The wardrobe is fitted with a presser as well and an iron so no need to worry about bringing delicate clothing. They is also laundry service that comes at a charge and they deliver in a short period as well, so you wont be waiting for long. The lavitories in the business lounge have towels for your hands, and exotic hand washing products, due to the location of them though, my only suggestion would be an addition of an automatic air freshner considering the door is always open. If you do not have a laptop, it is also provided for in the lounge and printing services are readily available to you as well. The restaurant has more of a buffet type of service but I would recommend you updgrade to the business lounge, we ended up eating there for the rest of our stay. It is comfortable and being on the top floor, the landscape view of Sandton is perfect for breakfast and dinner. SInce it was winter, we did not have time to hang around the pool deck much, but it has quite the view as well. Views are a major selling point for Radisson Blu Sandton Hotel. There is a shuttle service as well that takes to the Sandton Gautrain...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Radisson Blu Sandton with my boyfriends company for a function and one disappointment after another. We got there at 11.40 and we're told the rooms would be ready at 14.30 and not at 11.30 like previously communicated with the company. They told us to head up to the pool for lunch. We did, only to be told they are not open. Eventually after asking what must we do now? no room, no lunch, no drinks they eventually served us drinks. We then went down at 14.45 and the rooms were still not ready, keeping in mind we had a function to attend that evening and needed to get ready and some still had some work to do. After speaking to managers, FOH staff some of us eventually for rooms, and not the rooms we reserved but it was something. The staff just shrugged their shoulders and said there is nothing they can do due to a previous group checking out late. So it's not their problem, which infuriated some of the people in our group. Also the company had booked about 40 rooms for that evening. 3 of the couples were asked to share the penthouse suit only for one of their wives to get locked into her bedroom after the door jammed. The staff took 20min to get there and after 1 hour her husband had to literally break the door down to get her out, we were now running late for our function. Our room also only had 1 coffee pod, 1 milk, 1 robe... it was a king room ment for 2 people.
We then asked for a free shuttle that the hotel provides within a 5km radius from the hotel. At reception they said we didn't need to book, just head down to the entrance and ask. We did this and 4 shuttle drivers were sitting there refusing to take us. Said reception didn't know what they were talking about and they showed us they has taken a permanent marker and blacked out the "5" and said they changed the free shuttle served from 5km radius to 1km. So they won't take us. I showed them on the hotels website it says 5km, they shouted and said no it's 1km. So we stopped arguing as we were already late and called an Uber
They were promised a fixed door on return. Well apon returning that evening, not only did their room key not work, their door had not been replaced and they had to move to another room on another floor, this all at 11.30 the evening. No apologies or anything from the staff. The next morning when checking out, I asked if a drink we ordered from room service could be taken off our bill as we didn't open it. The lady at the counters response was "No sorry, but YAY we can drink it now" needless to say I went back to fetch the drink. The FOH staff have no customer skills what so ever!
Pathetic service...
Read moreWhen I booked this hotel I looked at the reviews from other people first and I said great hotel. Unfortunately I got the opposite. Let me start with the positives. The room was clean and neat. The sheets were clean and smelled fresh. Spacious and I had a good space to work. The bathroom clean and we'll stocked up and clean towels. Unfortunately the bath tub prop didn't work and the shower had no shower head just the shower extension pipe. It still worked wonders but was weird for me. The food was great. The staff not friendly at all. You would assume if the front desk is not friendly at least the restaurant will be different. Front desk first day I was told to stand on the side give another client who came after me the attention. Then I go to the restaurant for dinner and again the waitresses gives me a menu and goes AWOL. Everyone who walked in after me is being assisted. A good 10 minutes I'm still waiting . Eventually as I was about to leave the lady walks up to me and says are you ok? And I said no. The look and attitude she gave me you would swear I shouldn't have said that. I was scared to even eat the food but I ate because I was hungry and it was now around 21:00 and since I arrived 19:30. Then I'm told you must pay for dinner, and my rate was inclusive of everything and I was told oh mam unfortunately your rate only says bed and breakfast. No dinner. I had to double check my voucher and even send it to them to show it's inclusive.Ohk. Second day I didn't even have dinner or breakfast. At check out I was told to pay a difference for the same dinner I clarified a day before. I still explain there's no limit on my rate , everything is included, the gentleman says oh there's a limit of this much for government people. Not sure what gave him the impression that I even work for government as I don't. I still explained to him and asked him to look at the voucher n he still insisted I must pay, which I did and I requested the invoice. He decided to clarify with the agency of which he was told I don't owe him and he then says oh sorry Mam. Your rate is inclusive. I was angry and disappointed by the lack of professionalism and categorizing me and putting me in a certain box of where I work? That still puzzles me, really? I mean couldn't you clarify that before I had to deal with bank charges. Then he refunds me in cash as if that's ok. Who is going to pay for the Bank charges? đ. Not...
