I love this place, I book myself here almost all the time but this time around I wasn’t happy The restaurant's operations were notably disorganized during my recent stay in room 320, which I booked for two nights. On the first evening, I ordered room service around 8:20 PM while watching a movie with my partner. By approximately 9:30 PM, we realized we had been waiting far too long for our meal. When I called, a staff member informed me that they were busy with my order.
I reached out again at 10:10 PM, only to be told by another employee that they had forgotten to process my order and that the kitchen was now closed. They offered me bread as a substitute—bread at 10:30 PM? I responded that if I had wanted bread, I would have ordered it. Frustrated, I went downstairs to the restaurant, only to discover it was still open and serving other guests. The restaurant manager, whom I assume was in charge, assured me that they would handle the situation, yet did not offer an apology.
The following day, I ordered the same meal, only to have my order mishandled once again. This time, I received the wrong pasta with missing ingredients. The waiter took the dish back, stating it would be corrected in ten minutes; however, I ended up waiting another hour. When I attempted to call for an update, the phone just kept ringing until a male guest answered, indicating that they were taking his order. I was surprised to learn that guests were permitted to answer phones at the establishment.
Ultimately, when my food finally arrived, I found the taste to be quite unsatisfactory.
I ordered wine, which was delivered to my room uncovered. Additionally, I noticed that whenever I request an ice bucket, there is a R10 charge. While I am willing to pay this fee, I have encountered an issue: whenever I mention that I would like to pay by card, my ice bucket is never delivered. I do not carry cash with...
Read moreThe Catalyst has become home away from home, however i had the most UNCOMFORTABLE stay for the first time in 3 years since it opened doors. The mattress in the room i was allocated (room 404)was run-out; it sank like i was sitting on a bean bag(that was a shock to me)I was definitely not gonna have a good nite sleep sleeping in a sinking mattress. I was moved to room 406 with twins conjoined, it was the same issue but 10% better than the first room. At that time i was late for a dinner party i was attending somewhere and had to shower and leave. I accepted my Fate cos time was not on my side to keep changing rooms. Every morning i woke up with a painful back and neck as a result of that sinking bed. This made me think that most beds in the Hotel are run-out, looking at how busy it gets. A lot of people flock here because they are tired of Outdated Sandton hotels, and the results are showing in Mattresses. Its time for them to be replaced as in ASAP! I choose a Goodnite sleep over aesthetics all the time. Prices have fluctuated so Comfort should be key in Guest experiences. All other Services are Top tier including helpful friendly staff who even know me by name, from Housekeeping to Front dest to restaurant to security. I was one of the first Guests to stay at this hotel when it opened and it remained home since then. It would be really sad to encounter the same problem when i come back in June cos am even traumatized of coming back already! Fix this...
Read moreThe staff at the restaurant, security guards, spa staff and butlers were all so amazing. Super friendly and welcoming. Great job with that 😊👍🏾
The property is closely located to a lot of retail activities and restaurants. The hotel is also very beautiful. The Sanctuary Spa on site is great, it’s small, cozy and intimate. Zintle was amazing and honestly so welcoming, we love her.
The hotel is for a younger crowd. Young girls walking around barely dressed, older men with fancy cars. This is not a place I would book for my parents, or any decent person. It’s beautiful, cheap and located in Sandton so it attracts a certain crowd that’s just not our taste.
There is no buffet, only a very limited menu. That’s disappointing as you expect a full breakfast, we ate the same thing everyday. On our last morning we called up for room service and we were told they ran out of some of the breakfast items. How is this our fault when we’ve paid for breakfast.
The receptionist was very welcoming at first, however they dealt very poorly with our room issues.
Our Air-con leaked twice, the second time our clothes got wet. The walls are paper thin as our neighbors were audible the whole night through to the morning. You can hear everything from the corridor. Our second room was not really cleaned properly. It had a weird smell, and toilet...
