Having been part of the Tashas family for the past 7 years from Atholl, Melrose, Umhlanga, Rosebank etc..have never felt so unwelcome. I have a friend visiting from New York and was showing her the best time in Joburg. We ordered bottles of a particular brand and were informed after 2 bottles that it was finished. Asked Steve, the Manager to buy it from the liquor store less than 100 meters away. They said the store does have it. I went and found the brand. Was told the corkage was ZAR 150 of which I said I better go than drink something else we do not like. Steve, the Manager, asked me to wait a bit. Came back and said we can pay ZAR 70 per bottle. We went bought 5 bottles from the liquor store. Then Steve , the Manager came back and to told us the corkage was now increased to ZAR 120. We would not have gone to buy the drinks with the corkage being ZAR 120. The service from the Manager, Steve went from bad to worse accompanied by rudeness even though we were not rude. Total turn off especially having been one of Tashas' loyal supporters from Natasha's first restaurants and so wanted my friend to experience the best of Joburg. Bad start to the holidays. So totally...
Read moreWent to Tashas because it was recommended for it's vegan options. It had none. The waitress told us she knew what vegan means and recommended the arabiatta, which she assured us was 100% vegan. The meal came, it was clearly cooked in butter or cream, served with parmesan cheese, and had a slice of toasted bread with melted cheese on it. We immediately tasted something was off with the pasta and requested the chef to explain how the dish was cooked, he confirmed it wasn't vegan and had butter, cream, and cheese. The food was sent back but when we asked to pay, it hadn't hadn't been removed from our bill. The manager was very polite and apologetic but Tashas was generally a bad experience, we wouldn't recommend it if...
Read moreTasha's capitalizes by placing their outlets in wealthy areas, and then grossly overcharging for absolutely everything on the menu. They aim to attract those that do not carefully consider their budget. We ended up simply having drinks and our bill still exceeded a hundred rand, and then the waiter has the audacity to ask if he can keep the change. Please learn the meaning of the word gratuity, a tip is an additional reward for good service that is definitely NOT an obligation in any way whatsoever. I won't pay you extra for bringing three coffees to my table. This is an over-glorified coffee shop, don't treat me like I am in a Michelin star-rated restaurant in the...
