Parkes Manor — Hotel in George

A lovely historic building and maintained to the highest level, with a mixture of old and new furnishing, new bathrooms with contemporary decor. Extremely clean with lovely welcoming fresh flowers in the bedroom and bathroom. The view was special looking over the lagoon. A fire was lit every evening which made the lounge a warm and welcoming space. The breakfasts were super with everything you could want to eat before going out. The team were all very friendly and full of interesting facts about the history of the house and the Parkes family who owned it. It was a lovely oasis of calm and warmth and we were really delighted we had booked it for 2 nights. We were reassured we could safely walk to local restaurants at night, so enjoyed the local harbour restaurants and of course South African wine without having to drive. Even the cold and wet weather didn’t dampen our stay and we will be back to hopefully enjoy the hotel in the sun and make use of their lovely swimming pool. This is a beautiful place, very clean, extremely friendly and helpful staff and an amazing breakfast with great views. The rooms were spacious and very clean, great bathrooms. We totally recommend this place and would also come back for sure. Great value for your money. Particularly impressive was the breakfast service. It was quick, super friendly, you never need to ask for anything. Lulu made sure you were happy at all times and used dished were taken away immediately (unlike in some other places where used dishes linger forever on the table and you have not space left. ||One tip for people who are noise-sensitive like myself: Even though the rooms to the front have the view to the ocean, they are smaller and much more noisy due to the fact that the N2 runs along the property. We had a more spacious room to the back after I asked for it (and which wasn't a problem) and still had great views to the garden. And...

A spectacular Manor House with impeccable service provided by a small, personable team of passionate hospitality staff who seem to add a personal touch to everything they delivered during our stay.

We had booked out the entire Manor house for our intimate wedding celebration of 10 guests and the Parkes Manor team went above and beyond to make this one of the most special experiences we have ever had by looking after our guests, supporting where they could with small details and execution of things the bride had not thought of.

The rooms are spacious and bathrooms have recently been beautifully renovated, making bath/shower time an absolute treat. The garden is just as wonderful, offering ample space for having some quiet time or enjoying the outdoors of the property.

Breakfast was another highlight and our guests were incredibly impressed with the overall experience. Highly recommended.
