LA MER Self catering Accommodation Kleinmond — Hotel in Overstrand Local Municipality

After looking forward to a well deserved holiday for almost 3 years, what an easy way it was to book this gem!! We also received a couple of days before the commencement of our holiday a WhatsApp message from the host - Sarina - who gave us some much needed info before our arrival. Upon our arrival we were met by Sarina (host) for key handover and a de-briefing of all the details of what the accommodation entails. We have opted for the "Flat" section of La Mer, which we have nicknamed as "The RV" due to it's awesome, compact, but spacious layout. The bathroom has the most awesome, spacious shower, with great water preasure and super hot water :)) The bed and linen is world class with the most astonishing views from the comfort of your pillows. Full package DSTV is amazing as well as free Wi-Fi. The kitchenette is more than enough for a couple to enjoy making meals and keep the beverages cold!! Fanatastic to have a barbeque on the patio with waves breaking just accross the road with 180 degrees seaview. The cleaning staff is so friendly and efficient, and really needs a special thanks!! Our host, Sarina, is not only super efficient, but also extrermely pleasant, caring and helpfull. There are so many extras that you do not always find in self catering accommodation. To name only a few: Spices, Coffees, Tea, Sugar, Paper Towels, Toilet Paper, Cleaning Materials and the list just goes on and on. The LED light bulbs with back up batteries were amazing during load shedding:)) We will definately come back for more of this, time after time! Please be warned. These owners seem desperate for money and will try to charge you for anything and everything. In our case, it was a payment request (which I received immediately after checking out) from the property for being rude to their staff member, Sarina, who upon arrival, immediately made us feel unwelcome and had a problem with us bringing our dogs (after confirming on multiple occasions and reassuring me that the unit we booked was dog-friendly and that we could bring our three small to medium-sized dogs).

The above staff member, Sarina, who seemed so lovely on the phone, and who kept reassuring me that the unit was dog-friendly, conveniently forgot that she had even spoken to me on the phone and then told us that our dogs were a problem (after we had just arrived with them at the property!)

The owner, Dalene, had a breakfast voucher sent to us to make up for the rude welcome we received because it was my mom’s birthday…which I appreciated…that is, until the payment request came through the moment we checked out…

The cameras right outside the door of the property along with the warnings posted around the inside of the unit are enough to make anyone feel that one wrong move and they’ll jump at the opportunity to charge you extra fees.

It is a given that any accommodation you stay at should not be left in an absolute mess, so it seems incredibly unnecessary for guests to have to see these printed notices pasted inside...

I'm only giving this place and the warm welcome we received, a 5 star rating because 10 is not possible. This place is FABULOUS. It is right on the sea with the most spectacular view of the ocean that one can imagine. The owners are simply the friendliest, most warm people ever. The lady who welcomed us (sarina) is very informative and really welcoming. The house has EVERYTHING you could possibly want and need. The beds are comfy and the bedding and duvets of the highest quality. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. We were there on the coldest night of the winter and we were warm and cozy as there is ample blankets, Electric blankets and a fireplace. There is an entertainment area with an indoor braai and pool table, table tennis etc. Board games, binoculars etc... The owners really literally thought of everything. It is situated withing walking distance of a few restaurants and shops. A walkway along the beach is within metres away. This place is ideal for someone who wants to sit back and enjoy the ocean in a fabulous setting. I cannot wait to be...
