We stayed here for a saturday night on Halloween weekend in one of the Executive suites upstairs.||||The check-in process was quick and smooth. However the reception had emailed three days earlier looking for my credit card details by email because apparently they were not visible in the booking.com system.||||The standard of accommodation is jaw dropping. The rooms are magnificent. The decor is classy and elegant. The fixtures and fittings are top notch.||||The kitchen in the room was very well stocked and very nice quality.||||The room was immaculately clean.||||The bathroom was nice and the shower was strong, but the shower door didn't seal properly and water leaked all over the floor. The toiletries were very high end (Charlotte Rhys brand) and the towels were so soft and fluffy.||||The DSTV system had a huge range of channels and there was aircon throughout the apartment.||||I would stay here for the accommodation standard alone.||||Now for the bad bit, the food. The head chef wasn't on duty on a saturday night, so instead the trainee chef was in the kitchen. We were so impressed by the room that we didn't want to leave and decided to avail of the in room dining service.||||We ordered the prawn tempura to start but there were no prawns.||||We ordered the Thai chicken curry for two people and had to explain to the chef what came with it according to the menu. Then we were told this would take up to an hour to prepare and serve to us. Reluctantly we agreed and to keep us going we ordered a bottle of wine and a cheeseboard.||||The dining table was dressed elegantly for us and the wine and cheese brought to us. it was literallly cheese that was sliced up with some melba toast. There was no dried fruit, fresh fruit, pickled gherkins or onions, fruit chutneys, tomato relish, sliced apple, grapes, nothing! but there was three portions of breakfast honey put on the plate for some reason. The brie and blue cheese were lovely. Gouda is gouda.||||One and a half hours after ordering, we received our curry and it was not worth the wait. The chicken was served on the bone. There was no coconut, there was no garlic, there was no chilli. I asked for some chilli on the side to spice it myself and i was told that there was none delivered that day. The sauce was not even close to a thai curry and totally lacked flavour. There were no poppadoms, there was no roti, ||||The one saving grace is that the vegetables were cooked and tasted beautifully. The side salad was also tasty.||||I would recommend this hotel for spending time in but i couldn't recommend...
Read moreBooked in for 2 nights and whist the welcome and accomodation was great the restaurant should be avoided. It is disgusting. We were handed a dinner menu on arrival and chose our main courses. Starters and desserts offered no choice. The starter was overcooked, lukewarm and poorly presented. The main course of lamb was overcooked and served with cold vegatables, spinach that resembled soup and something that looked like gravy. The other main of Norwegian salmon morphed into fish (not identifyable) and spinach served on foil was so salty it was inedible. Dessert was more of the same. Stodgy mousse that tasted like egg served with cream from cannister. Wasn't feeling brave enough to try breakfast. Wine was...
Read moreThey were having major water problems in Polokwane and we're forced to check out of our previous hotel due to not having any water for 36 hours! The receptionist and owner were extremely helpful. Firstly they had begun to suffer the same water problems so they phoned around on our behalf to find alternate accommodation, unfortunately the other places that had water were already full. My husband and I decided to stay anyway, as at least there was a pool we could at swim in! Our room was immediately discounted in case the water situation did not improve, however when we returned from dinner there was water. Can't praise management enough, thanks for rescuing us from the Fusion...
