Hastings Hall is well located in Gardens, Cape Town. Just a few minutes, around 4-5, from the V&A Waterfront, 3 minutes from the cable cars at Table Mountain and about 8 minutes from Camps Bay Beach, as I said, a great location. The units are clean and modern with a blend of ceiling fans and aircons for extra comfort. Bathrooms and kitchens are modern. There is unfortunately no pool on site, luckily the beach is so close. The service experienced has been inconsistent however. On night 1 of our stay there was no bedding for the sleeper couch and no pillows either. After trying to resolve it at reception I was advised there is nothing that can be done and it would only be rectified the following day. My daughter had to sleep on the couch without bedding, an unpleasant and unsanitary experience. The next day this was again not rectified until I again went down to reception to report the matter, the previous night shift had not handed over the matter. Although I am still on holiday at Hastings Hall no one has reached out to follow up or apologise. Servicing of apartments, while well done, is inconsistent with cleaning sometimes happening in the morning and other times after 14:00, as was the case today. This can be an inconvenience when one returns after a day out to find the cleaner only arriving to clean. Unruly guests are also not dealt with and are allowed to unnecessarily inconvenience other guests, even after multiple complaints from different guests.
Will I come back, probably not, although again, the location is amazing and the apartments are well...
Read moreHaving stayed at many RCI resorts over the years, this one is a top of the line apartment block, worthy of more than its four stars. The staff were exceptional, to the point of assisting me in finding an auto electrician on a Saturday, with an address and clear directions, and pointing out the best tourist attractions in the area, with booking options. ||It is however, the rooms that impress. A Nespresso machine, with pods for sale at reception; four ice trays - all filled; bath robes; a bucket to collect bath/shower water that was then utilised by the staff; bathroom vanity unit with drawers and cupboards; more than adequate cupboard space; aircon in the bedroom; king size bed; good reading lights in lounge and bedroom and also no shortage of good plug points all around the rooms, with three and two-pin options – a pleasure in this connected world where most rooms have one or two plugs, plus free Wi-Fi. Full kitchen allows for cooking or snacking, with very adequate kitchenware.||The best was the live CCTV feed of Table Mountain – we never switched on the TV, just enjoyed the endlessly beautiful view. For those who are bored by that, there is a second TV in the bedroom to avoid viewing clashes! In addition, there is a laundry DIY or assisted; secured parking and a library/games room with an honour system – we donated four books and took two. The shopping centre is just down the hill and the resort is ideally situated off Kloof Nek Road, gateway to most tourist sites. Definitely coming back on...
Read moreMy overall experience with the Hotel was okay, the staff is very friendly and helpful the interior of the rooms are okay not very modern, the lounge seats are hard as rocks and the throw pillows are even harder and not comfortable at all, mix match cutlery and utensils in the kitchen and some fixtures needs to be replaced but the biggest change the Hotel needs is to remove the shower from the bathtub its very slippery standing and moving around in a bathtub taking a shower. The games room is outdated and not even worth looking at. Laundry service is great for long term guests and quick for a reasonable fee.
