This is a 1 star review, the second star is for the Hostess in white and blue tonight who tried her best to give us great service, service is rated 3/5 and I will explain why now.
We had been dying for weeks to try this place, we love Indian cuisine and this came highly recommended.
First things to note, the meals don’t come with basmati for some strange reason, first Indian restaurant that this has happened, both in Jhb and Cpt and we have been to many. (An additional R22 if you should wish.)
When the waiter brought the food he got the curries mixed up and we knew straight away by the gravies which was which.
The food was below par, the korma was tasteless, and the Madras was ok but too spicy when we specifically said extra mild for me as my husband likes spicy and not me. Most places the mild is just that, this came as hot as a medium, i have tasted many of my hubbys medium.
Worse off we ordered garlic naan which never arrived despite reminding our waiter.
Again this should have been a 1star review but the extra star is for the hostess who gave five star service. I gave only three stars as the waiters service was one star and hers five 1+5=6/10 so 3/5.
To top all of this off, a highly aggressive “car guard” who followed us next door to the ice cream parlor and swore at us for not giving him money, apparently he expects us to buy him a full meal for parking there.
Overall just a night we wish we could have re-done and...
Read moreI went here with my family based on the recommendation in this year‘s edition of „Eat-out“. What a disappointment!
I booked a table for the same day. We were seated in the entrance area. We asked for a different table but the restaurant was fully booked. Since it was the entrance and the way to the kitchen a lot of people went past our table. The waiter was friendly and the owner attempted at first. The food was very mediocre and except for the samoosas we didn’t finish. When the owner asked if we didn’t like the food we told him it wasn’t our taste and we got off to the wrong start with the table as well. He explained to us because we booked so late they only had this table and he couldn’t understand why we did not like the food. He started arguing with us. In the end he stated that „South Africans don’t mind sitting here“. As you can tell I am not South African but I don’t know why this should be an issue. The owner later said he meant that I am not a local from Cape Town.
I used to study at UCT and worked in Cape Town, I never encountered such a behaviour. There are clearly better places in Cape Town to go to and I have had way better Indian food in Cape Town as well. If the owners reply to this message I wouldn’t be surprised if they use their standard answer. No recommendation for...
Read moreI recently dined at this local restaurant, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, setting the stage for an enjoyable evening. The menu offered a wide variety of options, catering to various tastes and dietary preferences.
I started with the lamb mince samosa, the flavours were well-balanced and left me excited for what was to come.
For the main course, I opted for the lamb madras, and it was a true standout. The lamb was perfectly cooked and the accompanying basmati rice along with the complimentary tomato and onion salad just hit the spot. The side of garlic naan was huge and perfectly cooked.
To cap off the meal, I indulged in a decadent Lindt chocolate brownie. This warm chocolaty dish was a pure delight, and the vanilla ice cream on the side was the perfect cool contrast.
The service was impeccable, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who enhanced the overall dining experience. The chef’s attention to detail in every dish was evident, and it made for a memorable culinary journey.
I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delectable Indian dining experience in a charming atmosphere. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to return to...
