This bed and breakfast is in the ideal location to visit Simon’s town and its coastline however the actual set up of the bed and breakfast is a huge let down. We arrived to find our room was not ready, once it was the place still looked unkempt, there was a bucket in the bath, the furniture had not been returned to its original locations well and the complimentary items seemed used. On our second night there was load shedding a common occurrence however there seemed to be no precautionary measures taken and we had to use our phone lights to climb the three flights of stairs to our room only to find the rechargeable light (obviously for such occasions) had no batteries and was therefore useless. As South African citizens we fully understand the uncertainty of power but for the cost and normal clientele of this accommodation we really expected there to be more in place. The meal times had been adjusted for the convenience of the staff who were on the premises compared to the welcome sheet details we received on arrival. The whole place seemed to be being run by support staff with no obvious manager on site for the three days we were there (we stayed over a weekend which I would assume to be a prime time) There is about 4 parking sports in front of the building but they were not being used to their full potential and often we had to park a little further away.Overall the location was the main positive. Considering the price we would have hoped to have better amenities and hope that the profile for this accommodation can be amended as there are no pools on the property unlike what the description had lead us to believe. Luckily the charm of Simon’s town and the beaches made up for the serious lack of attention to detail and luxury you would assume a place this price and in this location would have. 3/10 would probably not go...
Read moreCringeworthy! The photos on their website look very nice and at first glance the rooms seem to be fine....until you start to settle in. I was grossed out when I opened the cupboard to find two old, dirty worn out pairs of slippers staring at me. Next I noticed that the bathroom floor had hair all over and the same with the shower. Now I had to check the bed and sure enough found some hair in it as well. The duvet cover had never seen an iron before or it was never changed from the previous guest. The towels also had hairs on them. The balcony chair was broken and could not be used. The chair in front of the dresser was so dirty and full of stains you don’t even want to sit on it. But the cherry on the cake with this place was when I found the previous guest’s little love notes against the shower walls. Apparently Doug enjoyed his stay there, as for me, not so much. I won’t be returning, nor would I...
Read more1 star for location near Boulder beach. But hotel is on top of mountain so the walk is not a nice one for little kids. 1 star for friendly staff & a clean room Room was stuffy as it had no air conditioning & no windows. There’s a door that you can open and let air in along with dirt & leaves from outside. The floor was covered in dirt every morning. There is no restaurant in hotel as advertised. Maybe there was in the past, but there’s no place to eat nearby except 20 min walk into town. There’s frequent blackouts which are normal in Cape Town & surrounding areas, but this is not normal if you a tourist visiting for the first time. The hotel should inform visitors about these daily power blackouts & provide guidance. Unless you are planning to hang out at penguin beach everyday, avoid this...
