Grange Gardens Hotel — Hotel in Windermere

Our stay at the lodge was average the rooms were average. Nothing wow. There was a young man at reception Theodore he rocks. He was the highlight we had great conversations with that young man. THEO. YOU ROCK*!!!! But these were things that let us down:

The security guard is never at the gate. We came back one evening just after 9pm to find no one at the gate and it was locked. We went up and down to the front to ask them to open for us and eventually the security came to the gate and we asked him why he took so long to open we are 3 ladies and its dark outside this was his answer "why do you need to go in and out out the hotel anyway"? Besides being a security is not his only Job in that hotel... What is that??

We were there for 4 nights. The bedding was never changed they just changed the towels and cleaned

Grown adults walking in PJ's and men walking around topless. This is supposed to be a hotel??

The staff are overworked!!! We ordered supper twice and both times we were told it would take 1hour tops we waited 3 hours for our food and two of the meals came back wrong and one meal was not made to begin with . I don't blame those ladies they make the food from scratch and they must managed the bar as well. This is way too much work to make staff to do that.

The hotel has great potential but maintained very poorly.

Break fast was good. Kitchen staff great....

My mom and I arrived in the 30th of April , my mom was not told that if you arrive earlier to check in you'll be charged that was the first red flag so we had to wait for 2 and a half hours for us to check in ,finally checked in the room was simply beautiful when we checked out drawers there were condom packages there , now my concern was the hygiene of the place because clearly they don't clean proper ,so we ended up leaving and taking a tour around Durban ,came back to the hotel to that there's no hot water ,48 hours passed still no hot water I had to boil water from the kettle and bath in one of the trash cans.On the last night of our stay we were moved at night to another room then we were told that some rooms have problems with not receiving hot water aii okay we got moved then the next we left... Honestly I wish there was someone who came up and checked the room with and I thank the night receptionist she really did...

I strongly advise against staying at this hotel. I checked in early in the morning to prepare for an event and spent a few hours there. Ultimately, I decided to check out due to the excessive noise from the staff and the thin room door, which failed to block the constant commotion. Additionally, a nearby construction site created relentless banging noises. The hotel provided low-quality, one-ply toilet paper, which is unacceptable for any establishment, and the bedding was unclean with noticeable stains, the rooms are small and bathrooms barely have enough space to comfortably sit on the loo. The location is on the border of Morningside, so also not the best. On a positive note, the security staff member was very friendly and kindly waited with me for my Uber without me having to ask.
