We went here for Christmas lunch. The experience was just perfect from beginning to end. Firstly, the seating was very good, spacious and comfortable, especially considering that my dad is in a wheelchair. Secondly, the food was just simply divine - from the kids food to the dessert, even the kids ate their food (chicken strips) with zero complaint and we're excited with the "pink sauce". I ate the fish and calamari with the peri peri sauce on the side. The food was simply perfect and the portion size was huge and very filling even before taking into consideration the sides on the plate (chips, spinach, butternut and rice). The sauce was simply stunning and was so good with the meal. I also tried the lemon butter sauce, which was also very very tasty. In fact, combining the both with the meal just did it for me - spicy, exotic and creamy at the same time. Third, the dessert (volcano cake) was also very good, albeit not runny (but good texture and taste). Lastly, what must be appreciated is that their kitchen was not "shell-shocked" by the fact that it was a special occasion and the restaurant was full and busy. Usually, restaurants fail in that we have to wait so long for food or service on such occasions because it's so busy - NOT here, everything was quick and smooth. I really appreciate their skill and efforts in this regard, including the attentiveness of our waiter and his good attitude. All in all, I would definitely recommend eating here and I will no doubt return to eat at...

I was wondering if Kasbah would cater for me the difference in their taste in the sea food platter, but it did rather bloated tummy and gas. (I wish it was me alone gone through this unpleasant post meal experience, but all of the 5 gents have the same problem)
It seems all the chefs graduated from the same chef-school. The taste among regular restaurants around the durban is the same.
It also seems the restaurant owner and chefs know what is getting sold quickly - that is the reason table service was so quick.
I'm not saying food was undercooked or had bad taste, but Kasbah's name and fame did not live above the medium standards in the sea foods category for their platters of chicken and sea platters.
We, a group of 5 males, who are no food experts; but spent R1565.00 for our meals comprising of 3 Hake platters, 1 chicken platter, salad, etc, noticed Kasba's kitchen only cooked and/or the food with the same sauces they cooked chicken and prawns. (There was no difference)
But overall, post meal experience is terrible as all of us are going through uneasy tummy.
The place is clean, and the service was quick (quick service is the reason for medium food...
Read moreThis trendy indo-Portuguese restaurant is a must for food lovers. The food is exceptional but the service outweighs even the good food. I was served by a wonderful waitress, Grace, no request was too big or small for her. One of the restaurant owners came to check on us himself, he was so kind, humble and approachable that I would not have guessed he was one of the owners. I observed the staff while we were dining at the place and I saw that every customer who came in was given the same consideration whether the group was big or small. This was such a refreshing and pleasant experience to know there are still businesses who take care of the details of their business and clientele and not just look to make a quick buck. This is definitely the place that sets customer service standards other restaurants need to live up too. We ordered a full chicken, it was yum and saucy, served with delicious basted onion rings and slap chips on a bed of rice.... their chocolate brownie is a must for chocolate lovers. It's decadent! And their pina colada was quite good too. Please...
