I travelled with my family of 4, so we had 2 rooms. Seasoned travellers.
The website said they offered free luggage storage, so my understanding was that we could leave our luggage before the opening time of 2 pm. Wrong! No answer from anyone when we tried all phone numbers. Because our flight had landed at 8 am, this meant we had to pay about 35 euros to have our luggage stored across the street. We came back to check in at 2:30 pm, only to be told to wait for the lobby person to arrive by the maid who was still cleaning the room. She got in at about 2:45 pm, asked us to wait even more while she was on the phone (?!) and then gave us our codes etc. We got in both our rooms, changed, and went to explore the city. When we got back in around 10:30 pm, my daughter’s door wouldn’t unlock with the code that was given to us and previously used. I had taken a picture of the card that was given to us with the code on it, so there’s no way we were trying with the wrong code. We got in a panic and started calling the “emergency number”. Meanwhile we tried and tried and tried to open the door again. Nothing would work. I started to think we would all need to share the other room we had. My daughter then had the idea to use a plastic card and try sliding it in between the lock and the door, and physically unlock the door. I thought this would be impossible and never work…BUT IT DID?!. This is COMPLETELY unacceptable and unsafe. Anyone can simply unlock anyone’s door and enter their room by swiping any card between the lock and the door. And, because there is no physical presence by any employee for about 18 hours a day, you can see why this is a HUGE issue. I am still in disbelief a hotel of this price would be such a security hazard. Several minutes later someone answered my Whatsapp message….By then we had unlocked it by ourselves.
Do not book this hotel. Very amateurish, and...
Read moreThe hotel is conveniently located at the end of the Ramblas... that's where the positives stop.||||Located near the entrance of the wax museum, you are faced with a climb of two flights of marble stairs as there is no lift available to reach the hotel reception.||The reception is only manned for a portion of the day, which makes access somewhat more difficult.||The room we had was viewing onto the Ramblas, which in itself is nice, but the windows were single pane creating noise issues at night.||||The room itself was tiny and ill equipped : nowhere to hang clothes, the linen was dirty, the shower was mouldy in places. Probably a coincidence, but there were a few pieces of evidence that someone blew the contents of their nose onto the wall... something which had not been removed by the cleaning team!||||As we did not want to stay another night, we left the facility stating our issues with the accommodation. We were refused an invoice despite having paid in full, nor was there any recognition of the issues we encountered.||||We moved to another hotel in the Ramblas at the same price level (170 Euro/night) which was very comfortable and what you would expect for that kind of layout.||||I you want an enjoyable, relaxing stay near the Ramblas avoid this hotel at all...
Read moreThis is just a 1* hotel and I can only assume that is because the reception isn't manned 24/7. Had services far better than some 3/4* hotels I've stayed in! ||||Greeted by receptionist on arrival who was very personable and genuinely helpful. ||||Room was great! Quite small but has a double bed, one bedside table, clothes rail and shelves. Has iron and ironing facilities, tea and coffee facilities.||En suite was small but had everything one needs including toiletries and a double shower. Only downside was no shelf in the shower but not a biggie!||||Major plus was a small balcony overlooking La Rambla, with two wooden chairs. Door is surprisingly soundproof so not disturbed much overnight.||||Other services outside the room included a kitchen and an indoor terrace with space to socialise and a book sharing shelf - I saw books in at least three languages 😊||This place was an amazing find! Right in the middle of the action, at the bottom of La Rambla, a stones throw from the marina, and right next to the Wax Museum.||||Notes: only accessible via marble staircase, and is on second floor - no good for...
