We booked 3 nights at their sister hotel but were sent to this hotel instead as the sink in our supposed room was broken? It sounded very dubious but we had no choice since it was too last minute to find any nearby hotels as we were only notified upon check in at 6pm. There was no attempt at service recovery. We were only given 2 free drinks and a free ride to the next hotel. This hotel was at least a good 15 mins walk away from our original hotel which was conveniently located next to arc de triomphe.

Despite that, we tried to remain positive and give this hotel a chance.

The positives are that the hotel is a 5 minutes walk to the nearest metro and there are nearby supermarkets and restaurants.

Onto the negatives, as we were sent to this hotel at the very last minute, we were given a room on the ground floor with no view. The body soap in our room had also ran out and we were given mini samples for the night. This seem odd for a hotel which is known to be 4 stars. Throughout the night, the toilet bowl’s flush couldn’t stop leaking and the aircon kept turning on and off on its own. We escalated it to the front desk who assured us that he would get someone to look at it the next day but clearly nothing was done as the sounds and constant change in temperature up till our last night kept us awake. The soundproofing of the room was also poor. In the mornings, we were rudely awakened by other guests or staff slamming the doors of the facilities or rooms nearby our room since we stayed on the ground floor.

During check out, it was hilarious that the front desk asked if our stay was satisfactory. We highlighted the fact that nothing was done to resolve our toilet or aircon issues and she could only apologize for that. Nothing else was done. It is unthinkable that this is a supposed 4 star hotel.

To be honest, I do not recommend this hotel nor any of its hotel chains. It was the worst stay we...

Pleasant Stay for Our Big Group

We recently stayed at catolina Hotel as a group of two families, totaling 12 people, and booked six rooms. From the very beginning, our experience was positive. The reservation process was seamless, with excellent support and communication before our arrival. A special thanks to the team, who was incredibly helpful and made sure everything was in order for our stay.

Check-in was a breeze, despite our large group. The hotel staff welcomed us warmly (thank you Beatriz), and we were impressed by their efficiency in getting us settled into our rooms quickly. This made a great first impression and set the tone for our stay.

The rooms were well-maintained and met our expectations. While they weren't the most luxurious we've experienced, they were comfortable and had all the essentials. The bathrooms were clean and in good condition, which we appreciated.

The hotel's location is another highlight. It's conveniently situated near the main areas, making it easy for us to explore the city and access key attractions.

One area that could use improvement is the lobby. Unfortunately, it was quite hot and not well-ventilated, which made waiting there somewhat uncomfortable, especially after being out in the heat.

Overall, our stay at Catolina hotel was pleasant and hassle-free. I like to extend my gratitude to Beatriz and the rest of the staff for making our visit enjoyable. We would definitely consider staying here again on...

Our stay was outstanding! While we loved the hotel location (easy walking to restaurants/bars/cafes), the facilities and our room; it was the staff who absolutely deserve a shoutout for their amazing customer service! The front desk staff of Victor and Javier were great with answering questions, calling a cab and just being there with a willingness to pitch in and help whenever and wherever needed. Speaking of pitching in we would be remiss to not thank Marcel and Isaac for their assistance in helping us with luggage, making a drink at the bar, finding us and iron and ironing board; to just being ready to help us and other guests at any time. Food wise we have high praise for Dayana who was nothing but smiles and making sure we were well taken care of to even herself being there to play bartender when needed. My wife and I can't speak highly enough about just how friendly, professional, accommodating and helpful this hotel's staff is. We would not hesitate to recommend it and stay there ourselves again. This was a very high end customer service experience for a very fair price....

Having stayed in another of the same chain, we were not disappointed. Rooms were ready early, staff lovely and the rooms clean. The junior suite terrace is beautiful but room is smaller due to this but comfy and functional. Location brilliant to explore beach and gothic quarter, they stored our luggage on the last day for us as well Only negatives: Breakfast popular items ran out both days ( croissant, pan au chocolat, white bread) even with an hourleft of breakfast. Note the suite is not accessible by lift you have to do some stairs. We also felt the back of the plunge pool was not private.. there is a staff maintenance roof area and there are gaps in the wooden surround to the back of the pool, which they can look through when you are bathing. A privacy screen would be sensible! Not suggesting anything improper but just a surprise to see eyes through the gaps one day! But we would stay here again, overall was great.

Had a wonderful stay here! Spent 5 nights in a basic room and it was clean, updated, and comfortable. The front desk staff were all wonderful, helpful, and friendly. A fantastic new thing for me that I cannot emphasize enough is the hotel-provided cell phone. This allowed for walking around the city always being able to access internet or make calls if needed - much better than having to find wifi to connect to on my own phone when I needed to find a place, pull up directions, or use a language translator. Finally, the location was excellent. I felt very safe throughout my stay and was close to the water, bus routes, various delicious food options, and some main tourist attractions and areas such as Port Vell and La Rambla. I would strongly recommend this hotel, for any first-time visitors to Barcelona especially!

My partner and I have stayed at three Catalonia hotels so far and thoroughly enjoyed all of our stays. Our room didn’t have an exterior view of the city but that’s not a dealbreaker for us. The location is amazing in the gothic quarter but not too close to the center. It’s a few steps away from a super market and a few minutes walk to the beach. It’s a great place to be with everything nearby. The breakfast is unparalleled and the staff are supremely helpful. I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking to stay in the gothic quarter. The breakfast included vegan and gluten free options that I’ve never had at other hotels and you really can’t beat the price for what is available.
