Casa del Mediterráneo — Hotel in Barcelona

Me and my partner have a lot of nice things to say about our stay in Casa del Mediterraneo.

Juan and Carlos are very amazing hosts that are genuinely accommodating. It is a sort of like a hostel arrangement with three always maintained lavabos/bathroom. If you want some privacy and you dont want to engage in conversations with other guests, dont worry - in my 4 days of stay there I havent seen other guests because there are plenty of bathrooms lol.

Juan will show you around first thing when you get there and he will also show you how to use the printer. He comes to maintain the place everyday. If you get lucky you’ll meet his beautiful dog called Ella.

The rooms are massive. The whole place smells like flowers. Theres a lovely chandelier ish ceiling fan in all the rooms very decorative - Very spanish bayside style ish with paintings and sea shells. The view from the balcony is nice in every room - theres an aircon/heater, power sockets beside the bed, a table and a nice open cabinet to hang your clothes - and you still have enough space to do the chacha or whatever cause its massive.

The place is, wait for it, at the heart of Passieg de Gracia which is the main road of the city. Absolutely a lot shops left and right. If you are into biking, theres a whole street of bikes for rent (company is called Bicing) literally just below our balcony. Youd notice that you wont really use public transport that often versus just walking or riding a bicycle. (There are a bike lanes connecting all parts of the nucleus of the city)

I have just returned from a 3 night break staying in the Borne room (road facing with balcony).||We were concerned about “sharing” bathrooms... it doesn’t feel like that-think of it as having 3 bathrooms to chose from. ||The apartment is all on one floor so you only have to go down the corridor to get to another. ||They provide towels, umbrellas (sadly we needed them) and full size male & female deodorant in each bathroom-so you literally can just pack & turn up. There’s an extensive choice of tea & coffee in the kitchen that you can use if you want to prepare food-but believe me-Barcelona has some of the best eateries no matter what your budget. ||The character features are amazing & truly beautiful as is Barcelona itself. ||The hosts are really friendly and helpful but let you get on with your own private break. They can give you handy local recommendations for where to eat-they were all great. ||I’m quite a fussy person who can find fault easily and I can’t think of anything.... if I had to really dig deep I would say yes you can hear some traffic noise from the front room but that’s the price you pay for original shutters & windows. Take ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper & that would resolve the ONLY thing I can comment that would be a slight negative. ||The location is great too.... JUST BOOK IT!!! ☺️ I can’t wait to go back and I hope to get better...

I stayed here for a couple of nights, at the beginning of last week, and was very happy with the place. It's in a good position, just 15 minutes, or so, from Plaza Catalunya, on foot, and about 10 minutes to Passeig de Gracia metro station. The apartment building is pleasant, and the accommodation consists of 6 rooms, on the 2nd floor. When I arrived, I met Juan, who was a super nice guy and he showed me to my room, and the bathrooms, lounge and kitchen. He also gave some good tips on places to eat and drink in the area. My room was basic, with a bed, small table, hangers for clothes and a bedside light.. The linen was changed daily. There were 3 bathrooms, in total, so there was always at least 1 free, so never had to wait for a shower. Free tea and coffee was available but I did not use it. The Eixample area is a great part of town, with plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars, and some beautiful architecture to look at, as you wander round. Casa Batllo is just a short walk from the apartment block. If I am 100% honest, I do think 75 euro per night is slightly expensive, for what you get however, the service is excellent and Barcelona is not the cheapest place in the world, to stay and it would not put me off choosing this place again, when I return...
