Terrible customer service. Worst restaurant experience I've had in a long time.

We came with a dozen friends for lunch. The food was fine overall, not great.

The problem came at the end. The bill came, it was what we expected, and we each paid our share of the bill. We then continued sitting and chatting at the table. About five or ten minutes AFTER WE HAD ALREADY PAID, they came back to us and said that they had made a mistake with the bill, and wanted each of us to pay a few euros more.

To me, this was bizarre. First of all, the extra charge was for something that we had understood to be part of the menu. It seems from other past reviews that they have a habit of deceiving people into ordering things that aren't part of the set menu, then revealing the "gotcha" on the bill.

But honestly, the most shameless part was asking us to all pay again (all twelve of us, running everyone's card again, which takes quite a while) after they had already processed the payment. At that point, they should have either simply not told us, or they could have mentioned it ("by the way, we undercharged you, but it's okay, you already paid") to see if we offered. But no. When we explained that we hadn't intended to order something off the set menu, and politely questioned the additional charge, they really doubled down and insisted that we pay. A second time.

Qué vergüenza. La cosa es que no somos guiris, nuestro grupo son catalanes o residentes desde hace mucho tiempo. Algunos de nosotros hubiéramos venido otra vez, pero ahora todos estamos muy frustrados y les decimos a todos que...

Disclaimer: this review is based on my experience here versus my normal restaurant experience in USA and traveling around the world. There may very well be some misunderstanding due to language barrier and dining culture differences

The restaurant: I visited on a bank holiday Thursday and they open til 12 am. Both exterior and interior look pretty new and fashionable for a tapa bar/steak house

Service: When I arrived around 11 they told me I have 30 minutes to dine, which makes sense. But all the staff were already cleaning, chairs up, and putting things away. Sure, but it also felt like they rather not take customers orders. Only one person at the bar Speaks English.

Food

When I asked the bartender if there was grilled anchovies, he said yes. So I ordered that and it was a seared not grilled ones soaked in vinegar, salt and oil. My fault to not check the menu myself throughly. But the anchovies was also a bit too salty for my taste

when I asked the waitress for tap water, she hand-signaled “bottle” so I asked for free water and she brought me a bottle of tap water and wanted to charge me 3 euros.

I ordered a rib eye steak, and they never asked me how I wanted it cooked. More, it took them about 30 minutes to make the dish - while the steak tasted great, it was still raw. I got home not feeling well in my stomach.

The price - The 200g steak was around 16 euro with no sides The 6-p seared anchovies is about 11 Euros For that price I think it’s a $$$ instead of $$ for Barcelona Exiample area. But maybe it was the inflation. So you be the judge to that.

Won’t...

After reading through the positive reviews, we were looking forward to trying out some authentic Catalonian flavors. We must have come on the wrong day because we were sorely disappointed with what we tried. We tried the tomato and olive oil bread, which was arguably the best dish we ate. We also had the vegetable platter and it was decent, as the veggies all had a good charred grill flavor (the oyster mushroom was the best out of all of them). The seafood paella was shockingly inedible due to its saltiness, even after we doused it in lemon. We do NOT shy away from salt or seasoning in our country and we both agreed that the paella was far too salty to eat more than a few bites. By the time our lamb leg dish arrived, I was a bit too disappointed to even take a photo but it was visually not appetizing and lacked char or seasoning. We hardly ate one piece before declaring the meal over. The grand total for two people was 60 euros and we had plenty of left overs that we did not bother taking home due to the flavors…. The bread and oyster mushrooms were great, but they are the only two dishes I’d order again. Truly sad given how lovely the restaurant’s...

We had a wonderful dining experience at 3 Focs in Barcelona. The Secret Iberic steak made with Iberico pork was absolutely fantastic — juicy, full of flavor, and easily one of the best dishes we had during our trip to Spain, according to my wife. We also tried the Pulpo a la brasa (grilled octopus), which was incredibly tender with a delicious smoky taste. Both dishes left a lasting impression. What made the experience even better was the service. Despite the language barrier, the staff were kind, patient, and very helpful, making us feel comfortable and welcome throughout the meal. Great food, excellent service, and an overall atmosphere that makes us want to come back to 3 Focs the next time we’re in Barcelona!
