I find it to be a space that's nicely decorated with a vibe that mixes modern with a touch of various rural Russian aesthetics and makes it both welcoming as well as open. The servers are friendly and open as well, happy to take your order in any number of languages. Where things get a bit wobbly is in the overall scope of the food. The pelmeni and syrniki that I had were both quite good and well prepared, even coming with smetana (sour cream) that I assume they source from some secret location or make themselves given that this very crucial condiment is generally impossible to find in Spain for reasons that escape me. The 'Russian filet' was decent, made from good quality meat, but that was it, it was just decent and lacked in interesting flavor outside of what was innately provided by the meat. The borscht was what left me the most wanting however as it was watery, overly sour, and with an unappealing chunk of very hard meat in it that I left uneaten. This was definitely the most disappointing dish which was surprising given how ubiquitous it is. But the main issue overall is the price as if it was a bit less expensive it would be a decent balance of price and quality, but as it sits, I find it too high for what's on offer. That said, if one is to choose the dishes carefully and if they can improve the borscht, it would be one of the better options for dishes of this cuisine...
Read moreFirst time visiting this nice place after a major overhaul. They've recently done a major renovation and changed the menu. I have to say, while I loved the cozy old Souvenir, the new concept really made it shine!
The new menu is an amazing twist on traditional Slavic (primarily Russian) cuisine, making it very Instagram-worthy, not to mention incredibly tasty. Honestly, it's better Russian food than in most restaurants in Russia.
As for the new design, I was amazed. They've really put a lot of money and passion into making the place look good, easily Top-10 best looking restaurants in Barcelona.
The staff is just as accommodating and nice as before, which adds a cherry on top of an already great experience.
Will certainly be back many, many times!
Pro tip: their homemade kvass and sea buckthorn mors are amazing and something you will never find in Western Europe or really anywhere outside of a...
Read moreLet's be honest, this is not Russian traditional meal at its taste. It is just like one,but not the one. Believe me, I lived there, I know how it tastes. Soup Solyanka was oversalted and very liquid, but it better when it is thick. Should contain more meat types and less cucumbers. But mainly ingredients are fine. Fish soup is nonsense, just a broth with few pieces of potatoes and fish. Poor taste. Honestly. Kvas is nothing compared to real kvas. Those who tried it,will understand. Cutlet in Kiev style - acceptable. It was not properly done from the inside, meat was still slightly pink and oversalted. Mashed potatoes are sad and kinda sticky, it is not supposed to be so.
If the prices were cut by half, it would be fair enough as this place gives just maximum half of Russian cuisine taste.
And there is no one literally listening to this music anymore, we have many great songs from that...
