I really think this is one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. The air of quality quite literally hits you as soon as you arrive. An Alfa Romeo sports car greets you on the forecourt as well as a swing chair, the scent of the hotel is absolutely gorgeous - blue velvet - I forgot to ask if I could buy the scent to take home with me so my house smells like this all the time! The decor is beautiful. Modern, clean, simplistic. The rooms are lovely. We had a "sea view" room - yep that old lateral view everyone's talking about. To upgrade to a front sea view room on the spot was going to cost 30€. No thanks. If I'd booked that from the start I would have got a better deal. The level, well what I could see of it looked great. I am told that soft drinks and water is complimentary. Having seen it, next time I would opt for this if budget permits. Saying that, the food quality of the restaurant was out of this world. Images of "buffet" conjures up a free for all, piling plates high and less than substantial food. Not here. The buffet is EXTREMELY high quality, fine foods, clean, palatable and everything I expected. First night of dinner was like "WOW". King prawns cooked on request, salads, soups, different types of fish, cheese and charcuterie plates, and delicious desserts. Breakfast was amazing with continental and full cooked food, omelettes and fried eggs made to order. Fruit, yogurts, cereal, HUGE amount of pastries, array of juices, tea and coffee delivered to your table, even on occasion complimentary sparkling wine which was a lovely touch and surprise on two of our three mornings. All of this with a view of Calvia Beach. Beautiful. The staff were absolutely amazing. The restaurant staff is who we encountered most. Special shout outs to Nora, Soraya, Claudia, Abdellah, restaurant manager Mr Robert De Niro (he knows who he is) and the other lovely restaurant manager. The bar staff make excellent drinks. Possibly the best Aperol Spritz I've ever had. The evening entertainment was lovely. Singers, a band. Perfect setting to dinner and with amazing views to boast. Everyone did their best to accommodate, find seating for us, serve to the best of their capability. Meliá you have extremely talented staff who clearly enjoy working for you. Belinda and Cristina on reception were BEYOND accommodating when I had a little mishap with the credit card that was charged which I did not bring with me. To their credit, Meliá are very strict with verification, and so they should be. They check things properly and strive to give their guests the best. The reception did their very best to help us and ensure this did not ruin our stay. The cleaning staff are also very friendly, genuinely happy and always said hi first. Sometimes I'd be like "where did that voice come from?" I partaked in Aqua Gym, which was fun, my other half did Yoga and also went to the gym, which he enjoyed. Oh yes we made the most of our stay! The hotel boasts lots of areas around the grounds to sit and relax. Near the restaurant, near reception, outside. The outside areas are lovely. One half surrounding the pool, another overlooking the beach, with a smaller child's pool. This is where we chose to sit and although we don't have children ourselves, it was not noisy. If you want to venture out, the infamous Magaluf strip is not far at all. Plus if you want to walk along the beach promenade, this might be preferable if you want a more scenic, classy view without people trying to convince you to visit their bar every 5 mins. Supermarkets and cash points are all within a...
Read moreA really lovely hotel that feels luxury and in a perfect location. The Calvia Beach hotel is located right next to the South Beach hotel which are both more or less on the beachfront.
The two hotels share two pools (one is adult only and was our favourite) and another small dip pool. Guests staying in the Levels rooms also have access to a private pool and bar/restaurant area but we personally didn't feel it would have been worth it for the cost. There are two bars which can be accessed from the pools - they are great but if you're not all inclusive it can become expensive (one cocktail is €10). We didn't experience the Cape Nao dining which has tables overlooking the beach as it seemed too expensive for us. Supposedly you aren't allowed to reserve loungers but as usual people were putting their towels out early and some were not attended for most of the day - maybe this is something that should be dealt with as it's hard for many people who can't find a free lounger.
Breakfast is from 7:30-10:30 and is buffet style. There's an amazing variety of foods - hot English breakfast bits, local pastries and meats, cheeses and salads, fruits and yoghurts, breads and sweet pastries. I'd recommend going down earlier if you want hot food - the temperature of the food sometimes was a bit cold later on even under the heat lamp. Guests from Levels rooms have a private section on the terrace for breakfast.
The hotel has a gym, spa and indoor pool which all looked lovely. If I'd have had the money I would definitely have visited the spa!
My reason for 4* rather than 5* is that when we arrived for some reason the room type we had booked wasn't available so we were put in a very basic room with no view for the first night. This was made worse when we noticed unmentionable dirt in the bathroom around the toilet and a dirty sheet left in the room. I spoke to the reception and guest experience staff member and they were very kind and understanding by our disappointment. We were very happy to be moved into a lovely room the next day and they took care of us very well, so all in all it ended up great but the beginning was a bit of a hassle.
Facilities and useful info:
Beach towels are provided in your room at the beginning of your stay.
There are WCs and showers by the pools and a foot wash at the exit to the beach.
There are various water exercise classes each day in the larger pool and there are staff who play with the children for a portion of the day.

There are hairdryers in the rooms and you can request an iron and ironing board to...
Read moreWe've spent here two weeks from 1 to 15 of August 2017. Definitely, an expensive holiday not worth the fare. The hotel is marvelous, with a wonderful view a nice pool a wide sunbed area facing the sea. The gym and the spa are also nice and all the structure is new and well furnished. Staff is very kind and cuisine is delicious. What is truly horrible is the organization. Due to this, everything you do in the hotel is negatively affected and not what can be expected from a four star hotel! It's the first hotel where I needed to ask to have the room cleaned in the morning. And after choosing a precise time for the cleaning (as the concierge suggested us) the result was to be woken up at 9.30 from the cleaning service. The sun bed area is supposed to be moderated by the rule of not being able to get a bed busy, if you're not there. But every guest do it, even if personnel is standing there (only one day I've been able to "obtain" a bed in a land of empty beds with with towel on, and this driven me to arguing with the girls who returned to get their "illegal reservation"). The pool has a bar, but both close a 7PM (so if you're thinking of swimming or drinking a cocktail watching the sunset, just forget it now). 7PM is the precise time when dinner start to get served, so if you want something to eat, you have to get there, paying 35€ each (drink excluded). We also make the error to try the laundry service. They took 3 days to and some arguing at the reception to have our stuff back (not cleaned!) before we have to take the plane back from the island. One evening we got back in the hotel late (10PM) so we decided to try the expensive "Late Night Menu" from the room service. Of five dishes available from the menu only one was truly available (salmon wrap at 15€ each). This is how the hotel go. Amazing structure with extremely poor organization. A fare of four star hotel, with service of a...
