We have just returned from a two centre holiday with 4 nights in Madrid at these apartments. Sadly the weather was atrocious with 3 full days of rain so we could have done with being nearer the city centre!|However, we really liked the apartment and it had clearly been freshly cleaned just before our arrival, together with all the public areas. There are no staff on hand so entry is via a set of codes sent via WhatsApp prior to arrival. Although this made me a little apprehensive, it all worked well and it was nice to have a secure entry gate and door. Staff are only available via WhatsApp between 10.30 and 18.30. The open plan lounge / kitchen area is well equipped although there was no tea towel or sweeping brush. Washing liquid, dishwasher tablets and washing machine tablets were provided. There was a jar of tea bags which we didn't use and 4 pods for the Nespresso machine. We bought more. There is also a kettle. It was cold and damp during our trip so we were glad of the central heating which worked well. Only the bathroom lacked any kind of heating, not even a towel rail. Four mini shampoos and shower gels were provided for our stay. The towels were clean but very thin - don't expect hotel style luxury ones! |There are two supermarkets within a 10 minute walk, Carrefour and Dia. The former was bigger with a greater choice of produce. There are a few bars and restaurants nearby but they were fairly quiet. It's about a 25 minute, downhill walk to Plaza de Espana or a 10 minute walk to Canal metro station. We like walking but heavy rain persuaded us to use the metro system a little more. The Metro is quick, efficient and very good value with 10 trips costing only 6.10 euros!!! Halfway to the city centre is a nice market with shops, bars and cafes. There was a lovely atmosphere on the Friday evening and it was full of local people rather than tourists. It was called Vallehermoso and much cheaper than the Mercado de San Miguel in town.|I couldn't find a hair dryer in the apartment but the housekeeper showed me the drawer in the bathroom which had appeared stuck .... it was a push not pull mechanism!!! She also provided extra toilet paper even though the apartment wasn't on her cleaning rota.|If you were lucky enough to have good weather, there is a nice communal terrace on the rooftop which makes up for the...

Long black hairs in shower, sink & on floors. Floor very dirty; I had to mop with rags, as no mop provided, nor broom to sweep & nothing for cleaning up spills. I actually had tocut up one of my bouses to use as dish towel, hand towel & rags. Shelf in shower needs repair. No balcony & no dryer, so drying clothes is a challenge, even though there is a washing machine & a drying rack. Option to open windows for airflow, but then the heat escapes. Missing/broken hook in bathroom (for hanging a towel?) Organization does not provide a cart for the housekeeping staff (1 person apparently for all 9 apartments), to carry supplies. She (housekeeping) carried several bags of supplies to clean an apartment, taking up the entire elevator floor with all the bags. Even though the quality of housekeeping is not up to my standards, I empathize with the housekeeper who is forced to do this labor without adequate materials or support...
Read moreThis was a modern and well equipped apartment, but the lounge furniture was stained and the sofa had a very uncomfortable straight back. Although it looked like the tv in the lounge room could be disconnected and wheeled into the bedroom, it would be better to have a second tv there.||By far, the biggest issue (which resulted in the low rating), was the after hours communication. The passcode to the building did not work late one evening and the only method of communication was via a regular landline number which can be very difficult for overseas visitors. We were lucky to have a resident of the building turn up and let us in.||Also, the front gate was totally insecure in that anyone can simply put their hand through the bars and open it with the inside handle.||We have learned a very valuable lesson from this and will never stay at a property that does not have 24 hour reception or, at the very least, a simple and efficient after hours service. It’s just not worth the...
