We came to the Protur Badia Park for a quick 4 night break & some late season sunshine. In those regards it was a great holiday as the hotel is very comfortable & temperatures were still 25' in early Oct.|The hotel was celebrating its 25 year anniv but its certainly not showing its age. Rooms & bathrooms were fresh & modern, as were the public areas. We had the one bed apartments & the generous extra space was much appreciated. Everywhere was kept very clean throught the hotel, and staff were friendly enough, if focussed on task rather than service if you understand my distinction.|We were impressed by the food offering. There were always lots of options & variety at the buffet with some really good quality dishes. I particularly enjoyed the seafood, but there were lots of good meats, veggie options & fresh salads & fruits, healthy options as well as freshly prepared items at the chef station too, plus a separate children's section. Dishes were the correct temperature & very regularly replenished.|Our only gripe would be comfort of the beds. I'd seen this theme on previous reviews before we booked & travelled but disregarded it as its subjective & a constant theme across all hotels isnt it?? - wrong - should have listened! Two large singles pushed together to create a huge bed that looks inviting, but they seem to be on wheeled metal bases that you're constantly at risk of falling down between if you go anywhere near your partner. Also the metal bases are squeaky, noisy, annoying contraptions that have no place in a decent hotel - whoever procured them needs banning from the hospitality industry. The mattresses themselves aren't too bad (if a little on the firm side), its the metal, collaspible?, camp style, wheeled bases that are to blame - horrendous.|Its worth noting that even though the hotel is self sufficient, it's sits within a complex of several other Protur group hotels. There are other shared facilities you can use between these hotels such as free bike rental & minigolf (very impressive too), some other splash / childrens pool complexes, and the bookable (but included) a la carte restaurants (four). All very good from a 4* perspective. |Badia park is probably the closest of this Protur complex to the sea, and its a short 5/10 mins past the shops/cafes/bars to the promenade & lovely beach. There are also pleasant walks along the coast, or through pine forests to a small old castle (free entry) with a cafe with wonderful views.|We enjoyed our stay overall, but if returning to the area would probably select another hotel, perhaps within the same complex. The Protur Safari (where some of the shared facilities were) looked a more impressive option with hindsight. The outside space & pool areas were a lot more comprehensive, whilst at the Badia Park it feels a lot more compact & surrounded by the tall accomodation blocks (I would check they dont use the same beds...
Read moreWe visited as a family of 4 2 kids and 2 adults kids 4,7. Hotel is mostly clean. But gets quite grubby by the end of the day.||Rooms- clean and spacious with a separate bedroom. They have English channels but the tv kept flickering so couldn’t really watch. Had a fridge but no kettle or tea making services. Asked for tea making services and they brought up a kettle. I phoned for cups and tea and they told us to get paper cups from the outdoor buffet and tea from there. (Which really annoyed me. I don’t think I have been anywhere that don’t have tea making in your room). They also don’t change your glasses which we would use for water and they didn’t clean the rooms just made them up, which seemed pointless. The sofa bed is also so uncomfortable it was like sleeping on a rock. Even the kids found it hard to sleep on. ||Food- very poor! Especially for English people. It’s completely geared to Germans. Put it this way, when you can’t even get a decent breakfast, that’s not good! The sausages are all frankfurters all day. Came here two years ago and they had English ones. The choice in general is rubbish. I also got food poisoning, pretty sure from either the salad or eggs (as they were cold). Lunch time buffet is the same thing with burgers, hot dogs and pizza which gets too much in the end. I don’t understand why they can’t just do a ham and cheese toastie! ||Pool- pools are good. The kids enjoyed the kids pools with slides. Just hated the fact that you always had to have paper cups all throughout the day. Just not the same. ||The hotel is definitely not a 4 star in my eyes it definitely no more than 3* especially with the meal choices, the staff that basically ignore you or make not effort and the extras such as paper cups, etc. Most of them in the restaurant almost ignore you as you walk in. Coffee is pants and is only out of a machine and doesn’t cater to intolerances if you need something other than normal milk. Entertainment in the evening was good but during the day there wasn’t much to be seen apart from the water aerobics.||We have stayed at many other protur hotels in the area over the years and I would 100% recommend Sa coma playa. The staff there are lovely (actually interact with the kids), food is better, has staff that great you at the restaurant and show you to your table, get your drinks, nicer pool and hotel area, felt more luxurious and catered to both German and English. This hotel has been very poor and to be honest I wanted to come home after 3 days after getting sick and the food...
Read moreYou will have a good time here but you need A LOT of patience to get you through! ||I’ll keep it as short as possible: ||Cleanliness: Good overall||Location: Lots of shops, bars and restaurants near by which are brilliant. Very close to the beach, literally 5-10 minute walk left out of the hotel. Highly recommend the kings head for food and drink left out of the hotel on the corner. ||There are 2 splash parks on site free of charge, good for young ones and then La reserva water park is also available but you have to book this and is a reduced cost for people staying at Protur complexes which is a good few hours guns ||Food and drink: Poor choice of allinclusive cocktails, have to pay for majority. Coke, water etc always available via drink dispenser but we found from the bar was better as they always gave you ice and lemon. Ice creams always available which was good for kids, my 5 year old loved them all. Food is your average allinclusive, some nights better than others. Every sitting breakfast, dinner and tea is BUSY no matter what time you go. You’re ALWAYS being barged into, waiting for tables, waiting for food to be prepared, queuing for food. The main location for food is too small and too crammed for the capacity of guests. It's ridiculous, this is what I meant by you need a lot of patience because you are waiting around A LOT and you are constantly having to dodge people because they just barge into you - even some staff members! Some of them are rude. ||Restaurants are available to book on the complex e.g country grill (Mexican) highly recommend to book this, it was amazing! Didn’t get chance to book the Italian which is supposed to be nice as there was no availability at all throughout the whole week we were there and only ever had one time slot which was 6:30pm. | |Rooms: Small but modern and nice. Air con isn’t the best either, had to complain at one point and was told the whole hotel system was down and then when fixed still not the best. ||Pool: No rush for sun beds, beds still available at 9am. ||Tip: Have euros on you because Mondays and Fridays they have huge inflatable hamster balls in the pool in the evening which is €8 and they only accept cash. They were brilliant, also air hockey, pool etc available but need euros in cash, cars you can drive for kids also available for €2. ||We enjoyed our time here as a family of 3 but...
