Here’s my honest review of this beautiful hotel.
Firstly the location, just a 2 minute walk and you are at the beach front, which is stunning, loads of shops, cafes, bars etc. And so clean, and felt totally safe walking about.
ROOM. WOW, what can I say, we had a 6th floor room in block B. All rooms look onto the pool area. We had a double room and the bed was huge, much bigger than our kingsize at home. I’d read that people found the beds hard, so I requested a mattress topper, and had a perfect sleep every night. The rooms are huge, with a lovely sofa area. The bathroom is a walk in shower, which was perfect. Also rooms have a decent size balcony. Plenty of plug sockets, but we take double travel plugs that have 2 USB points in them.
FOOD. Absolutely spoilt for choice for every meal, and every taste accounted for, the salad bar alone was simply incredible. But be prepared the desserts are simply irresistible, be prepared to put on weight hahaha. The drinks during the day are served in paper cups, which is understandable, as glass wear near a pool is maybe too risky. Having said that it was fine, Pina Colada’s still went down well, too well. Of an evening drinks are in glasses, and boy the measures or lack of them was fabulous, Baileys came in a bowl, well nearly hahaha.
STAFF. You’d have to go a long way to find a friendlier group of people, every single member of staff went out of their way to make your holiday special. I’d like to make a personal shout out to a staff member, she served us a few times in the bar, and elsewhere. Her name was Luz and she is a credit to the hotel.
POOL. One word, FREEZING! But we did go in every day, you just have to either go in tentatively (me), or just take the plunge. The sun lounger situation is comical, even though the rules are no reserving until after 9am, some sneaky people still sneaked down early, and then never appeared til later in the day. As for the loungers, they are too close together, which resulted in several large bruises on my legs, but we learnt and moved one out, to give us more room, also a little table would be nice to put drinks etc on, instead of the floor, but it wasn’t a massive issue for us, just the tight closeness of them.
ENTERTAINMENT. Sadly I think this is an area that could be improved upon. It could be that it was coming to the end of the season, I don’t know. But we had some good nights, and some pretty poor. The Acrobatic show was poor, a lot of people left half way through. The magic show only lasted 45 minutes, which isn’t good enough. Other than that the Quiz night was great. And the two singers we had, the female one was amazing, wished it lasted longer than an hour. And finally our last night, was Tourist Day, and the singer and atmosphere was incredible, and was the longest show of the week, wish it had been like that all week.
OVERALL Will we be going back, ABSOLUTELY!!!!...
Read moreJust returned from a week at this hotel, and I can say that I'm kind of underwhelmed with the experience. |While there is nothing massively wrong with this hotel, the only description I can use is its just OK.|The rooms are spacious but kind of dated, and could use an upgrade. The small( by modern standards) tv is placed on a small unit where it can't be seen from the bed, beds are comfy, but the pull out sofa bed not so much. Shower good and powerful, central ac works well. I don't think I should be paying for a safe in this level of hotel though. Cleaner does her job.|Staff all seem to work hard and are polite. |Then the entertainment...... I'm not sure what's going on with it. Is it a ploy to get everyone to go to bed early? The majority of the acts I saw were shockingly bad. Each time people leaving in droves long before it finished. The comedian was ok, and the following nights act also sounded good, but we couldn't see him as we were confined to the bar due to the bad weather.|There could do with being some filler music being played between the mini disco and the main act, as its all very stop start. |This is the same around the rather cramped and tired pool. The animation girls come and do their thing, but then wander off with the music, and it is back to silence again.|On the good side there doesn't seem to be any lounger wars, just a lot of people reserving loungers at both sides of the pool, due to the sun only covering half of the pool at one time. Pool area is tired and a tad grubby. Lingering smell of drains near the pool bar area.|Food and drinks.... mmmm just OK. All spirits poured very strong, even when asked for less. Branded mixers though! |Food also seemed quite hit and miss, some dishes over or undercooked and mostly cold especially at breakfast. Not really any show cooking as you would expect, just the guy cooking chops burgers etc and then " hiding them " behind the shelf on his cooking station. Perhaps get some trays out and a sign so people can actually see the food Instead of it being a bit of a secret. |Oh and while you are doing that, get the toasters fixed, it takes 3x passes to make toast. |Out of the hotel, its a short walk to the seafront promenade, sprinkled with the standard mixture of bar/ restaurants and tat shops. Nice walk in the evening. We also found a nice bar on the road back from the seafront with a Kebab house opposite. Quite handy. |Probably won't return as compared to other places we have stayed of the same price and rating this is really a 3star plus, definitely not a...
Read moreThis hotel is in a great location, just a short walk to the main beach & plenty of Spar supermarkets! My daughter & I were allocated a disabled room which was large, clean, had 2 huge comfortable beds & was on the same floor as reception in Block A. The balcony looked out onto the seating area & as the front was glass, we felt that we had no privacy. We had to keep the curtains shut whilst changing in the room which wasn't ideal but we coped. I did check with Enrique on Reception that no actual disabled person needed our room & he told me no. Sadly no alternative room was available but as we were only staying for a short while, we just got on with enjoying the little time we had here. My Son however had the best room of the hotel which was on the corner of the 6th floor in Block B. Very large terrace with jacazzi bath overlooking the sea plus another balcony overlooking the pool area. Useful to check out whether there was sun beds available at the adult only rooftop pool area!!|Food was your usual all inclusive buffet with plenty of choice, clear allergy labelling with a separate table at breakfast for Gluten free and soft drinks/tea/coffee/beer/wine were available to pour for yourself. Tables were cleared quickly by the staff who seemed happy in their jobs.|The pool bar offered snacks & ice cream, again with plenty of choice and what really impressed was the Estrella Damm beer on tap plus the Gluten free version in bottles.|The main bar server was a very friendly man who cleared the outside tables of glasses very quickly. Plenty of variety of alcoholic drinks included in AI.|Gala dinner had a nice touch with a drink offering as you went into the restaurant. Fresh seafood, crab, fish, meat etc plus amazing desserts including a chocolate fountain!|Evening entertainment was entertaining for many reasons & it was lovely to be able to sit outside to enjoy it. Bonus of our disabled room, we could also watch from the balcony.|Lots of sunbeds around the large main pool & never an issue with getting them. Yes the sun goes around the hotel so you need to chase it but that's the fun of it. Pool is refreshing & the internal jacuzzi invigorating.|The adult rooftop pool is also refreshing as a plunge pool & has great views whilst chilling. This area gets very hot but there is some shade and a drinks machine/toilet up there too.|Cleanliness both inside the hotel & outside around the pools/bars/snack/entertainment area is exceptional.|Overall, the 3 of us adults had a good time here & Sa Coma is a lovely resort,...
