Impressive in every way||My wife and I recently returned from a 14-day stay at the Grand Teguise Playa in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote—a hotel we’ve visited several times over the years. Once again, it delivered a relaxing and enjoyable experience that left us eager to return.||Great location||Right by the beach, there was direct access to a charming little cove and metres away from shops, pubs, and local attractions. Everything seems within easy reach.||Evening entertainment was really good, with standout performances like the incredible Tempest Forte—three tenors who were awesome.|| Daytime activities vary depending on the season. We tend to visit outside school holidays when the focus is more adult-oriented, but we’ve heard the programme adapts well for families during peak times. The entertainment team deserves special mention for their energy and friendliness—they work hard to get everyone involved and create a fun atmosphere.|| Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. We’ve stayed on floors 3, 4, and most recently 5. The rooms are fairly consistent across levels, with the view being the main difference. During this stay, we had a minor issue with a blocked sink, but it was resolved within half an hour—excellent response time from the maintenance team.||Cleanliness: Impressive Standards it is clearly a priority here. Even after a recent calima (dust storm), staff worked tirelessly to keep public areas spotless, including windows and outdoor spaces. Our room was cleaned daily, and the maid service was consistently thorough and friendly.||Dining: Since our last visit at the end of March, We ate out at the many local restaurants because of issues with the food. |HOWEVER, this time (Sept/Oct), the dining experience was exceptional. The quality and range of dishes had noticeably improved, and many guests were commenting on the positive changes. Compliments to the chefs and serving staff who made every meal feel special. We felt spoiled for choice.||Pools:||The hotel features two well-maintained pools, with the warm saltwater pool being particularly popular. Sunbeds are plentiful, though, like many resorts, early reservation with towels is common. Staff do their best, but it’s understandably tricky to monitor. We had no issues swimming and sunbathing ourselves. ||One aspect often overlooked in reviews is the atmosphere among guests. Thanks to the respectful and welcoming environment fostered by the staff, it’s easy to strike up conversations and make new friends. There’s a genuine sense of community here.||Areas for Improvement||If we had to point out a flaw, it would be the seating around the stage area, which could benefit from reupholstering. That said, it’s a minor issue, and it’s clear the new management is steadily upgrading the hotel. We’re confident this will be addressed in due course.||Final Thoughts||Grand Teguise Playa continues to be a relaxing and well-run hotel where staff genuinely care about their guests. It’s rare to find such consistent warmth and professionalism, and we’re already looking forward to planning...
Read moreMe and my family stayed at Grand Teguise Playa from the 10th-21st August on the all-inclusive package. Upon arrival there was a luggage room to store our bags until the check-in time. The gentleman on reception was helpful and friendly, explaining everything we needed to know including restaurant times, towels and the hotel facilities. The rooms are spacious, modern, very clean and have everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a mini fridge, a safe and a hair dryer. We celebrated my mum’s birthday whilst on holiday and we had a complimentary bottle of prosecco in each room which was a nice touch. The food in the restaurant was very nice. Some nights had different themes such as Mexican or Italian. The outside snack bar in the late afternoon was great too, doing hotdogs, burgers and toasties. The alcoholic drinks from the bars were nice, and most of the drinks we had used the real branded spirits which was a good surprise. There is a different selection of cocktails, but they tend to be nicer from the inside bar. The pool is big and is split in half so one side is cold and the other side is heated, and it is a salt water pool. Most of the entertainment activities take place in the heated pool. The rush for sun loungers isn’t as bad as other hotels. To get some in a good spot I’d say you have to be down there around 8am but most of them are in the sun all day anyway. In the mornings it is very very windy and a lot of the sun loungers were blowing in the pool, and this happened throughout the day when the loungers and parasols were left unattended. When this happened the lifeguard didn’t seem to be too bothered and guests had to keep getting the loungers out of the pool. There is a gate by the pool that takes you out towards the little beach. This was fun to go down to and swim in the sea. The entertainment team were good, notably the gentleman who was there everyday all day in good spirits! He was friendly, energetic and entertained all the guests from 10am through till 11pm. The nightly entertainment was good, different every night with acts coming into the hotel to perform inside and singers performing outside. We really enjoyed the Duet Grenade act in particular, they were brilliant! There is also a gym onsite, however quite a lot of the machines weren’t plugged in so most of them were out of use. There was free wifi throughout the hotel, but it worked best in the rooms and not great around the pool. There are lifts also dotted around the hotel making each floor accessible. There are vending machines in reception with a few snacks in but there is also a Spar over the road to get some snacks. Outside the hotel there are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. The hotel also isn’t far from the waterpark, we visited one day and reception called us a taxi. And the hotel is about a 20-30 minute drive away from the airport. The staff were generally very friendly and helpful. The hotel is definitely a family friendly hotel and we would like to return in the future. Thank you for...
Read moreDisgusted!!!! Be aware this is not a 4 star hotel ! This should be at best 2 star. We have just come back from our weeks holiday and stayed at this hotel, upon entering our room there was the previous occupiers toe nails and plenty of public hair in the bathroom, I immediately went down to the reception and complained to which they sent a maid up to go back over the room. Needless to say the room was something from the 50s and was very dated. Broken old wicker furniture a TV from the 1950s and smaller than my mobile phone, all the skirting boards we're falling to Pieces the ceiling was yellow, and there was absolutely no security as the balcony door was broken and did not lock. This was made worse by very low walls between rooms making it easy for somebody to jump over the wall and enter your apartment under the cover of darkness while guests are downstairs enjoying the entertainment of an evening. In fact we met one couple who had a Rolex watch stolen from their room and the Guardia civil was called to investigate. It was believed to be an inside job and taken by one of the hotel staff. Being all inclusive it would be nice to have a few drinks around the pool area but if you're thinking about having a pint forget it as they only serve drinks in small polystyrene cups! You would think that the hotel would invest in some plastic pint glasses to keep guests happy instead of having to go back every two seconds for another drink, also as English we like a cup of tea or coffee but again forget it as all they have is an ancient self service machine which makes a disgusting coffee. There is also a real lack of poolside snacks and food you are Limited to a couple of tiny cakes and a couple of sandwiches hardly a wide variety of choice, and for kids there is virtually nothing. I have stayed in dozens of all-inclusive hotels over the years but this is possibly the worst for all inclusive! It would be better named nothing inclusive. The location of this hotel is fantastic but if you're thinking of staying here you're better off going half board or self catering definitely eat out as food is a thousand times better then the hotel which is more like prison food. There is a small square less than a minutes walk away which has an amazing vibrant atmosphere fantastic food very reasonable prices and you'll have a far better time than if you stayed in the hotel. We had Argentinian steak glass of wine and a pint of beer for just over €30. If you're unlucky enough to book this hotel make sure you ask for the superior rooms which have apparently been modernised and revamped. I would however stay at this hotel again purely for its location. My biggest recommendation would be to hire snorkel Gear as the bay is full of fish and sea life and the shop is attached to the side of the hotel, they speak perfect English and snorkel hire is around €5. We still had a fantastic holiday but I would strongly advise not to go all inclusive as you'll be...
