Met a lovely couple from Norfolk and spent time eating, drinking and chatting with their youngest.
Ate early, pie and chips for my lady whilst I had tuna steak with.......chips. Asked if they had canarian potatoes but no. Ok, ate decent, tuna well seasoned and the lady enjoyed her pie.
Washed down a few beers on a relaxing December afternoon. Sharing stories, laughs abound.
So there the positive ends. After food and drinks accumulating around €50, the bill without request was quite literally thrown upon our table ( with a bill thrown on the other table). Reason, was the bar person/owner/ rude as hell individual was finishing and wanted paying before he finished. Now, I simply do not need to know the mechanics of running the place. I was enjoying our afternoon and then to have the bill thrown at us and told "all the places around here do it and expect to be paid in 2 or 3 minutes" is beyond belief.
After having to argue publicly, as to why we had to pay now, our change was thrown back on the table, no apologies for the embarrassment, no thank you for custom, nothing. But guess what, drank up and was then asked whether we would like another drink. Not a chance.
This occured on the backdrop of another party of 4 adults whom too were quickly made to pay up and reluctantly leave.
Such a good start to Erik's bar was destroyed by the very worst customer service.
On reflection, I would advise not...
Read moreA place to avoid at all costs. Disrespectful, rude, and inflexible staff who neither listen nor reason. Apart from us, there were only two other tables occupied in the place at 3:30 PM. We ordered a latte and a beer. The waiter arrives with the coffee, which already looked too strong for my wife's taste, and she politely asks if he could lighten it a bit with more milk. The waiter returns with the same glass of coffee, filled nearly to the brim, and a separate cup of milk. Since the glass is already completely full, how is she supposed to add the milk? So my wife gets up with the coffee and the milk to go to the bar and fix it herself. On the way, the waiter stops her and says he'll take care of it. He comes back a while later with the same glass of coffee and an empty glass, and practically throws them on the table. Then I get up with the coffee and the empty glass and go to the bar, where what seems to be the owner is already waiting. I try to explain to him that all I want is for them to remove a bit of the coffee and add some more milk. There was no way to make him understand, and I’ll spare you his comments and arrogance. Arrogant sir, you may have been making coffee for over 30 years and working for almost 8 hours, but I also work 8 hours a day, and no matter how tired I am, my behavior and manners at 4:00 PM are the same as they...
Read moreWe found this place having walked out of another place ( which I won't name, but has good reviews), down the street because the owner/ waiter was so scruffy. We ate there five times. Three times for a breakfast, which was really brunch and twice in an evening. We fancied something different to spicy foods. The no1 breakfasts were good. In the evenings we had nice tuna salad, grilled tuna ( the waiter was concerned that it might be dry when I asked for it well done, but it was just right for me), Spanish omelette and tuna jacket potato. The jacket potato wasn't warm enough, but it was soon rectified. All the food was good and good value. I discovered that they stocked some decent bottled beers which made a nice change from fizzy lager. The service varied depending on which staff were on duty. One was a bit surly, and was asked sarcastically by a customer " do you not enjoy your job". The others were really helpful. The owner's dog isn't to all...
